Protect and reuse
existing wood blocking and cold-formed soffit support only where shown on the design
details or when specifically approved on-site by the Designer. Otherwise install new
materials. Inspect the securement of the existing oriented strand board and install
supplemental fasteners in accordance within applicable sections of these specifications to
provide wind uplift resistance in accordance with the North Carolina State Building Code
and ASCE-7. Refer to base bid allowances (estimated quantities of work in Section
012100) for additional information.

7. Inspect roof penetrations and raise/extend penetrations as needed so they will maintain a
minimum 8” vertical flashing height above the shingled roof at the new roof thickness.
Extend/modify any mechanical connections, ductwork, etc. as necessary to raise
penetrations to required heights.

8. Inspect existing securement of wood blocking that will remain in use. Install
supplemental fastening of existing blocking as noted on the drawings to ensure adequate
wind uplift pressure resistance. Install new wood blocking where shown on the drawings
to form the roof perimeter and accommodate the new thickness of the roof system.

9. Base Bid: Install and mechanically fasten a layer of nail base insulation (rigid insulation
with factory adhered plywood substrate) directly over existing OSB. Install self-adhered ice and water shield around all eaves, rake edges, high eaves, ridges,
and penetrations including at transitions with adjacent walls. Install specified
underlayment over the remainder of the roof area and provide proper laps with self-
adhered membrane and perimeter metal.

12. Provide and install counterflashings, sheetmetal flashings, cleats, fascia, soffits, cold-
formed support framing, wall panels, trim, gutters, downspouts, straps, and other
sheetmetal trim and sealants as shown on the drawings for proper installation of the
design details. Wall panels shall be installed on support framing to cover all EIFS areas.
At areas of EIFS removed beneath window assemblies and at transitions with the
adjacent shingled roof, install self-adhered underlayment over sheathing and foil faced
polyisocyanurate insulation to match the thickness of the adjacent EIFS before
installation of supports and wall panels. Install pre-fabricated gutter guards at all gutters.

13. Install new asphalt shingled roof system on all roof areas including vented eave and high
eave/ridge details if Alternate Bid 01 is selected.
