Proceed with work only when weather conditions comply with sealant manufacturer’s <br />recommendations. Do not violate temperature limitations recommended by the manufacturer. <br /> <br />1.06 WARRANTIES <br /> <br />A. Provide a Contractor’s Five-Year Warranty for work included in this project in accordance with <br />Section 014000. <br /> <br />B. Provide Sealant Manufacturer’s project-specific, Five-Year limited material warranty. Confirm <br />steps necessary to obtain this warranty with the sealant manufacturer as a part of the bidding <br />process. <br /> <br /> <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.01 SEALANTS <br /> <br />A. For sealants to be installed as a part of the roofing system and to be in contact with the roofing <br />shingles, underlayment, or pre-finished sheet metal components, provide only sealant materials <br />specifically required by the roof manufacturer for placement within the warranted system. <br /> <br />B. Sealant: Shall be a single-component, non-staining, one-part, low modulus non-sag polyurethane- <br />based sealant in accordance with ASTM C920, Type S, Grade NS, Class 25. Color shall be <br />approved by the Engineer. Acceptable manufacturers/products include, but are not limited to: Sika <br />Corp., Sonneborn Building Products, and Tremco, Inc. Make sure materials are compatible with <br />substrates and are capable of obtaining the specified warranty. <br /> <br />C. Cleaner: Shall be xylol, toluene, or commercial solvent recommended by the sealant <br />manufacturer. <br /> <br />D. Primer: Primers for substrates shall be as provided by the sealant manufacturer. Primers must be <br />provided and installed whether or not required by the manufacturer. If a sealant manufacturer <br />directly recommends against use of a primer, notify the Engineer to discuss. <br /> <br />E. Backing Materials: Provide backing materials such as closed cell backer rod and bond break <br />tape, as required for complete and proper installation of sealants. Size of backing materials must <br />be determined by the joint size to be sealed and must be of adequate size to create the proper joint <br />depth and prevent three-sided adhesion. <br /> <br />F. Protection Materials: Provide materials such as polyethylene sheeting, tape, and other accessories <br />as required to protect other building features from damage or staining, due to joint sealant <br />replacement. <br /> <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 SURFACE EXAMINATION AND PREPARATION <br /> <br />A.
