<br />076200.6 – FLASHING AND SHEET METAL <br /> <br />Project Manual for Motor Pool Main Building Roof Replacement <br />Orange County, Hillsborough, NC <br />Prepared by Atlas Engineering, Inc., 551-A Pylon Drive – Raleigh, NC 27606 <br />August 2021 <br /> <br /> <br />F. Clamps: Shall be stainless steel pipe band clamps with a minimum ¼” width. <br /> <br />G. Termination bar: Use only membrane manufacturer-supplied aluminum or stainless steel termination <br />accessories, 1/8” x 1”. Bar shall have pre-drilled slotted holes at 8” o.c. No plastic or polymer <br />termination bars will be accepted. <br /> <br />H. Concrete Splashblocks/Pavers: Provide min. 30 lb concrete splashblocks on walktread where roof <br />downspouts discharge at grade onto paved areas/service yards. Where downspouts discharge onto <br />grass/dirt areas, provide concrete “grid/waffle-style” pavers to form a min. 4’x2’ area beneath the <br />downspout. <br /> <br />I. Sheathing and Rigid Insulation: Replace damaged exterior sheathing with DensDeck Prime, <br />thickness to match the existing sheathing being replaced. Sheathing must be removed and replaced <br />from one framing member to another to allow for proper securement. Secure sheathing to framing <br />members @ 8” o.c. Removed areas of EIFS must be replaced with polyisocyanurate insulation <br />board with foil-facing per ASTM C1289; thickness to match the existing EIFS (Basis of Design <br />Johns Manville AP Foil-Faced Polyisocyanurate Continuous Insulation). <br /> <br />J. Provide pre-fabricated gutter guard that is compatible with the designed gutter profile and <br />securement. Gutter guard must be formed from aluminum and/or stainless steel and should secure to <br />the gutter. Guard must be removable to allow for gutter cleaning. Gutter guard must be acceptable <br />to the Owner and Designer and should not void the shingled roof warranty. <br /> <br />K. Other Accessories: Provide other components not specifically listed herein but required for complete <br />and proper installation of the sheetmetal flashings. <br /> <br />2.03 FABRICATION <br /> <br />A. In addition to complying with all pertinent codes and regulations, comply with pertinent <br />recommendations as noted in "Architectural Sheet Metal Manual", as published by the Sheet <br />Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association, Inc. (SMACNA). When <br />recommendations conflict with the requirements of the specifications, follow the more stringent <br />requirement or contact the Designer to request clarification. <br /> <br />B. Fabricate and install sheet metal sections in 10-foot lengths except where shorter lengths are <br />required by construction. <br /> <br />C. Form sections square, true, and accurate to size, free from distortion, sharp edges, and other <br />defects detrimental to appearance or performance. Shop fabricate sheet metal sections to the <br />maximum extent possible. <br /> <br />D. Junctures, intersections, corners and unions of sheet metal shall be held to 18-inch legs or less. <br /> <br />E. At all locations where new sheet metal sections abut walls or terminate, the sheet metal flashings <br />shall turn up the wall and be terminated in a watertight condition. Top edge and sides shall be <br />covered with a counterflashing with a reglet mount into masonry, or extending behind new wall <br />panel.
