<br />076200.4 – FLASHING AND SHEET METAL <br /> <br />Project Manual for Motor Pool Main Building Roof Replacement <br />Orange County, Hillsborough, NC <br />Prepared by Atlas Engineering, Inc., 551-A Pylon Drive – Raleigh, NC 27606 <br />August 2021 <br /> <br />the color of the roof and wall panels. Provide required light-gauge support framing for the soffit <br />panels where indicated on the drawings or if required to supplement the existing framing. <br />Provide fasteners, trim and other accessories required for a proper installation of the panels. <br /> <br />D. Acceptable Manufacturers: <br />1. Acceptable manufacturers of the specified standing seam metal roof systems (including <br />wall panels, soffit panels, framing system, and trim/flashings) include: <br />a. McElroy Metal <br />b. MBCI <br />c. Architectural Metal Systems <br />d. Metal Roof Systems (MRS) <br /> <br />2. The cited examples are used to denote the quality standard of product desired. Requests <br />for substitutions must be submitted by qualified project bidders and will not be accepted <br />from manufacturers. Submitted requests must include sufficient documentation to indicate <br />that manufacturer and/or product submitted meet the requirements of these specifications <br />and are equivalent to the quality of those listed. The acceptance of any substitutions is at <br />the sole discretion of the Designer. <br /> <br />E. Sheet Metal Flashings: Metal roof system flashings including gutters, downspouts, rake and eave <br />trims, ridge flashing, offset cleats, etc. shall be fabricated from the same material as the metal <br />roof panel (cleats one gauge heavier) and shall be pre-finished to match the metal roof panels <br />unless otherwise noted. Refer to Section 076200 - Sheet Metal Roof Flashings for additional <br />information. Flashings shall generally follow the profiles shown on the design drawings but the <br />Contractor may suggest slight modifications as a part of the submittal process. <br /> <br />F. Supplemental Supports (angles, channels, hat channel, eave support plates, etc.): Cold-formed <br />steel, minimum 18 gauge, G90 galvanized structural steel shapes, minimum yield strength of 33 <br />ksi, in accordance with ASTM C955. Profiles must match as generally shown in the design <br />details or as required by the manufacturer for proper support of the new roof system panels and <br />flashings. <br /> <br />G. Fasteners: Provide fastener size and length that meet the manufacturer’s requirements: <br /> <br />1. All concealed fasteners must have head profiles that are countersunk or flush with the <br />material being fastened. <br />2. Exposed fasteners may have head profiles as recommended by the manufacturer with <br />aluminum-backed EPDM washers. The fastener heads must be pre-finished to match the <br />flashing being secured. <br />3. Perform pull-testing to confirm capacity of fasteners to be used to secure new roof system <br />components to existing materials (wood blocking and steel deck). <br /> <br />H. Tape Sealant: Non-curing butyl tape sealant, per AAMA 809.2. Minimum 1" wide and 1/8" thick <br />unless otherwise shown on the Project Drawings or required by the roof system manufacturer. <br /> <br />I. Gunnable Sealants: For concealed sealants provide non-curing butyl per AAMA 809.2.
