<br />076200.3 – FLASHING AND SHEET METAL <br /> <br />Project Manual for Motor Pool Main Building Roof Replacement <br />Orange County, Hillsborough, NC <br />Prepared by Atlas Engineering, Inc., 551-A Pylon Drive – Raleigh, NC 27606 <br />August 2021 <br /> <br />1.05 SCHEDULING <br /> <br />A. The Contractor shall field verify existing conditions prior to fabrication of sheetmetal components. <br />Minor dimensional detail changes may be required to fit existing conditions. Field verification must <br />be performed with enough time to make revisions to shop drawings and to allow for proper <br />fabrication of components without project delay. <br /> <br />B. Sheet metal work shall be closely coordinated with the installation of new system materials. Proper <br />sequence of work will be critical to proper installation of the sheetmetal flashings and trim. <br /> <br />C. Sheet metal installations shall be scheduled such that system terminations will not be left <br />unprotected. <br /> <br />1.06 WARRANTIES <br /> <br />A. Provide a Contractor’s Five -Year Warranty for work included in this project in accordance with <br />Section 014000 of these specifications. <br /> <br />B. Pre-Finish Warranty: Pre-finished sheet metal shall have a 20-year finish warranty stating that the <br />pre-finish will be free of fading or color change in excess of 5 NBS units in accordance with ASTM <br />D-2244; will not chalk in excess of numerical rating of 7 in accordance with ASTM D 659; and will <br />not peel, crack, chip or delaminate. <br /> <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.01 SHEETMETAL MATERIALS <br /> <br />A. Pre-Finished Coating: Shall be pre-finished with a two-coat, coil-applied, baked-on <br />fluoropolymer coating system based on Kynar 500 Fluorocarbon coating with a top side total dry <br />film thickness of 1.0 mils (minimum); bottom side shall be coated with a primer/wash with a dry <br />film thickness of 0.25 mil. Finish shall conform to all tests for adhesion, flexibility, fading, <br />chalking, peel resistance and longevity in accordance with ASTM D 659-80 (chalk rating of 8 or <br />less) and ASTM D 2244-79 (5 NBS units or less). Colors for pre-finished metal shall be selected <br />by the Owner Provide color chip samples for review and approval. The Owner may elect to <br />choose more than one sheetmetal color for wall panels, downspouts and trim/flashing dependent <br />upon location. <br /> <br />B. Wall Panels: minimum 24 gauge, galvalume panels, 12-inches wide with concealed fasteners and <br />a flush profile capable of being installed with a vertical orientation. Panels with intermediate <br />beads or stiffeners are not acceptable unless specifically requested by the Owner. Provide <br />required light-gauge support framing for the new wall panels where required. Provide fasteners, <br />end and corner trim, and other accessories required for a proper installation of the panels. <br /> <br />C. Soffit Panel: minimum 24 gauge, galvalume panels, 12-inches wide with concealed fasteners and <br />a flush profile. Provide the manufacturer’s perforated/vented soffit panels. Soffit panels, J- <br />channel, trim around lights, perimeter trim, etc. shall be pre-finished with a color selected by the <br />Owner from the available standard colors.
