<br />073113.1 – ASPHALT SHINGLED ROOF SYSTEM <br /> <br />Project Manual for Motor Pool Main Building Roof Replacement <br />Orange County, Hillsborough, NC <br />Prepared by Atlas Engineering, Inc., 551-A Pylon Drive – Raleigh, NC 27606 <br />August 2021 <br /> <br />SECTION 073113 <br /> <br />ASPHALT SHINGLED ROOF SYSTEM <br /> <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 WORK INCLUDED <br /> <br />A. Inspect the composite roof deck, wood blocking, and other components to remain and repair or <br />replace damaged or deteriorated materials in accordance with this section and Section 061000 of <br />these specifications. <br /> <br />B. Base Bid: Install nailbase insulation mechanically fastened to the existing OSB. <br /> <br />C. Alternate Bid 01: Install vented nailbase insulation mechanically fastened to the existing OSB in <br />lieu of the standard nailbase. <br /> <br />D. Install one layer of self-adhered underlayment at the eaves, ridges, rakes, and high eave. Install <br />synthetic underlayment on remainder of roof. <br /> <br />E. Install new laminated, dimensional asphalt shingles in accordance with applicable sections of the <br />specifications. The new shingled roof system must meet the requirements for UL Class A fire <br />classifications and wind uplift resistance in accordance with these specifications, the North <br />Carolina State Building Code and ASCE-7, latest edition. <br /> <br />F. Install new sheetmetal flashings, trim, wall panels, and other associated transition flashings and <br />accessories in accordance with Section 076200. <br /> <br />G. Install other accessory items such as fasteners, sealants, tape sealants, mastics, and ridge vent <br />components, as necessary to provide a complete and watertight installation in accordance with the <br />specifications, design drawings, and the warranting manufacturer’s installation instructions. <br /> <br />1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> <br />A. Contractor shall have a minimum of five years of experience in the installation of asphalt shingle <br />roof systems and accessories. Contractor must have the necessary certifications from the <br />approved shingle manufacturers to install and provide the specified warranty coverages. <br /> <br />B. Use adequate number of skilled workmen who are trained and experienced in the necessary crafts <br />and who are familiar with the specified requirements and the methods needed for performance of <br />the Work. <br /> <br />C.
