Provide equipment and personnel to handle products by methods to avoid product damage. <br />Deliver products in undamaged condition in the manufacturer’s unopened and marked containers <br />or packing. <br /> <br />B. Promptly inspect shipments to assure that products comply with specified requirements, <br />quantities are correct, and products are undamaged. <br /> <br />1.02 STORAGE AND PROTECTION <br /> <br />A. Store products in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, with seals and labels intact and <br />legible. Products requiring fire resistance classification shall be delivered and stored with labels <br />attached and packaged as required by labeling. <br /> <br />B. For exterior storage of products, place on sloped supports above the ground. Cover products with <br />impervious sheet covering and provide ventilation to avoid condensation. Maintain temperature <br />and humidity ranges required by the manufacturer for each product. <br /> <br />C. Store loose or granular materials on solid surfaces in a well-drained area and prevent mixing with <br />foreign matter. <br /> <br />D. Arrange storage to provide access for inspection. Periodically inspect materials to assure <br />products are undamaged and are maintained under required conditions. <br /> <br />E. Select and operate material handling equipment so as not to damage existing construction and/or <br />materials. Protect materials against construction traffic. <br /> <br />F. Materials that are damaged or that become saturated shall not be used and shall be removed from <br />the project site. The Designer reserves the right to mark damaged or wet materials and require <br />immediate disposal/removal of material. <br /> <br />G. Handle bundled shingles so as to prevent damage. Store bundles flat in accordance with the <br />product manufacturer’s recommendations. <br /> <br />H. The Contractor shall not load more materials on the roof than can be installed within 5-7 working <br />days, unless otherwise approved. Materials shall be distributed and not stacked. Gasoline storage <br />containers, open cleaners, or other flammable or volatile materials shall be removed from the roof <br />daily. <br /> <br />I. Payment by the Owner for any materials, equipment or labor incorporated in the work shall not <br />be deemed to be an acceptance by the Owner. The risk of loss of such materials, equipment or <br />cost of labor spent to install such, shall remain with the Contractor.
