Data Update PowerPoint <br /> PURPOSE: To review updated data about homelessness in Orange County submitted to the <br /> United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) earlier this year. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness (OCPEH) was created <br /> in 2008 to coordinate funding and activities to end homelessness in Orange County. OCPEH is <br /> jointly funded by Orange County (39%) and the Towns of Carrboro (15%), Chapel Hill (41%), and <br /> Hillsborough (5%). <br /> OCPEH Manager Rachel Waltz will present the updated data and discuss how current data relate <br /> to identified gaps in the homeless service system. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with receiving the report. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are applicable <br /> to this item: <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION AND <br /> INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or color; <br /> religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national origin or ethnic <br /> background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential or economic status. <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang <br /> activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the report as <br /> information and provide any comments or questions. <br />
