Proposed By-Laws Re~~ision -Human Services Transportation Advisory Board <br />The Board twill review and consider approving proposed revisions to the by-laws of Orange County Human <br />Services Transportation Advisory Board. <br />9. ITE111TS FOR DECISION--REGULAR AGENDA <br />a. Approval of Equipment and Vehicle Purchases for Fiscal Year 2003-04 (8:50-9:15) <br />The Board «~•ill consider approving equipment and vehicle purchases for County departments, excluding <br />Information Systems and Solid Waste, for fiscal year 2003-04 and authorizing the Finance Director to <br />finance the purchase of four ambulances through an outstanding private placement loan proposal from CCB, <br />previously approve by the Board for purchase of Landfill equipment and authorize the Finance Director and <br />County Attorney to execute the documents necessary to complete the funding. <br />b. Building Capacity for Public Health Preparedness acid Response in Orange County Health <br />Department (9:15-9:30) <br />The Board will consider building the capacity of the Orange County Health Department to Carty out its <br />responsibilities in public health preparedness and emergency response as part of the overall Orange County <br />emergency response through acceptance of funds available and establishing t~~-•o public health preparedness <br />positions; and accept the additional allocation of funds from the North Carolina Division of Public Health in <br />the amount of $69,199; and accept the $0,000 grant award from the US Department of Health and Human <br />Services Public Health Service for development of a Medical Reserve Corps in Orange County, and <br />authorize a permanent full-time public health nurse position to fultill the duties as the Public Health <br />Preparedness Coordinator effective December 1, 2003, and authorize a permanet full-time public health <br />educator as the Volunteer Coordinator effective December 1, 2003 to fultill the duties associated with <br />creating a Medical Reserve Corps in Otange County, subject to the continuation of grant funds. <br />c. Proposed Task Force to Review Humane Society of the United States (HSUS} Final Report and <br />Current Status of Orange County Animal Shelter Operations (9:30-9:4~) <br />The Board will consider moving forward with a representative and timely process in the review of <br />recommendations contained in the final report from the Humane Society of the United States {HSUS) and <br />consider approval of Proposed Task Force to Review the HSUS Report and Current Status of Shelter <br />Operations, with modifications as may be desired; and approval of the Central Grouping of Major Issues for <br />Orienting the Work of the Task Force, with modifications as may be desired for the following suggested <br />timeline. <br />December 9, 2003 BOCC Appoints Task Force members <br />March 16, 2004 Task Force Issues Report <br />April 1, 2004 BOCC ~?Vork Session on Report <br />November 26, 2003 <br />x:13 PM <br />
