ORANGE COUNTY ARTS COMMISSION <br /> July 12, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Virtual Meeting - GoToMeeting <br /> Board Members present: Fred Joiner, Chair;Anita Mills, Vice-Chair, <br /> Delia Keefe, Secretary;Linda Williamson, Justin Haslett, Sean Bailey, <br /> Dan Mayer, Crystal Wu, Sarah Shore, Marlon Torres, Lindsay Metivier, <br /> Brad Porter, John Bemis, Krista Bremer, Hannah Fatool <br /> Board Members absent: <br /> Staff Present.• Katie Murray, Executive Director <br /> 1) Fred called the meeting to order at 6:40pm. <br /> 2) Fred moved to approve the June minutes with corrections. <br /> Dan seconded. The minutes were approved. <br /> 3) Director's Report: <br /> a) Paint it Orange <br /> This event will take place in person this year. The <br /> Hillsborough Arts Council will not be a partner in <br /> this event. The commission will handle it. <br /> Volunteers will be needed to hang the exhibit, most <br /> likely in October. <br /> b) Eno Mill Update <br /> Katie proposed having Eno Mill events on the 1st Friday <br /> of the month. A discussion of pros and cons followed. <br /> Construction is wrapping up this week and movers are <br /> coming the first week of August. Our September meeting <br /> should be in person. Gallery exhibits will begin around October <br /> and classes should begin before that. <br /> c) OCAA <br /> The strategic planning process is ongoing with Carl Baumann. <br /> Katie has proposed to her boss that the OCAA, (as the fundraising arm), <br /> handle the revenue piece of the mill. This would include items such as <br /> class registration fees and checks to artists. <br /> d) Grants Update <br /> 57% of the project grant applicants are first-time applicants. <br /> 1/4 of the grassroots applicants are new. <br /> 4) Restart the Arts Grants <br /> The rules here are very vague. We can decide how to spend this <br />
