2. Commissioner Castillo motioned to disband the current committee. <br /> Commissioner Harrell seconded the motion. All were in favor. <br /> 3. Commissioner Harrell motioned to form next year's committee. Commissioner <br /> Garcia-Turner seconded the motion. All were in favor. <br /> 4. Commissioner Castillo invited HRC members to volunteer to be on next year's <br /> committee. Commissioner Mahalley nominated Commissioner Driver. <br /> Commissioners Driver, Mahaley, and LaBarre volunteered to be on the <br /> committee. Commissioner Mahaley suggested inviting this years' awardees to <br /> be a part of the committee. HRC members were in agreeance with the said <br /> suggestion. <br /> C. Communications Committee <br /> 1. Commissioner Harrell announced the committee will meet the first Monday of <br /> every month from 6 to7pm. <br /> 2. Commissioner Harrell reported that the committed will be working on an <br /> initiative in honor of Fair Housing Month. <br /> D. Board Diversity <br /> 1. Commissioner Graham had nothing to report at the time. He suggested that this <br /> topic be tabled and presented as a talking point at the HRC retreat. <br /> E. Community Read <br /> 1. The committee did not have an update. They will report back to the HRC at the <br /> next meeting. <br /> IX. Other Business/Announcement/Upcoming Events <br /> A. Commissioner Castillo announced that former Commissioner James Spivey has resigned. <br /> B. HRC members discussed the possibilities of creating a google document or something <br /> they may share amongst each other. Ms. Moore reminded HRC members of public record <br /> and public meeting laws. She advised that if the HRC were to create something, HR&R <br /> would need to have access to it in case of a public record request. The HRC will continue <br /> to work with HR&R to figure out what may work best. <br /> C. Ms. Moore announced the Young Trailblazers for Justice event held on March 25, 2021, <br /> at 3 pm via zoom. She invited HRC members to attend and or promote the event. <br /> D. Ms. Moore also announced the Veteran' event held on March 25, 2021, at 2:30 pm. She <br /> invited HRC members to attend and promote the event. <br /> X. Adjourn <br /> A.
