(All other staff members will be identified <br /> 17 appropriately below) <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Chair Price called the Board of County Commissioners meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Due to current public health concerns, the Board of Commissioners is conducting a <br /> 22 Virtual Work Session on September 9, 2021 utilizing Zoom. Members of the Board of <br /> 23 Commissioners will be participating in the meeting remotely. As in prior meetings, members of <br /> 24 the public will be able to view and listen to the meeting via live streaming video at <br /> 25 orangecountync.gov/967/Meeting-Videos and on Orange County Gov-TV on channels 1301 or <br /> 26 97.6 (Spectrum Cable). <br /> 27 <br /> 28 A roll call of the County Commissioners was called; all members except Commissioner <br /> 29 McKee were present. <br /> 30 Chair Price welcomed Commissioner Richards to the Board. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> 33 1. Options to Expand Affordable Housing Incentives and Opportunities <br /> 34 The Board received a presentation on options to expand affordable housing incentives <br /> 35 and opportunities in Orange County. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 BACKGROUND: <br /> 38 Staff from the County Attorney's Office, Housing and Community Development Department, and <br /> 39 Planning and Inspections Department were requested to explore opportunities to incentivize <br /> 40 affordable housing in Orange County, with a focus on modifications to the Orange County <br /> 41 Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). Staff met to discuss opportunities as they relate to <br /> 42 regulations contained in the UDO, but also examined other options including housing policy and <br /> 43 programs. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 At the February 16, 2021 BOCC Business Meeting, the County Attorney's Office drafted an <br /> 46 information item (Attachment A) related to this request. The information item included an <br /> 47 affordable housing report examining regulations contained in the UDO and a proposed list of <br /> 48 items to incentivize affordable housing related to the UDO. At that meeting, Board members <br /> 49 requested the item be brought back at a later date to review and discuss further. The Board <br /> 50 further requested all options and opportunities to incentivize affordable housing be considered. <br /> 51 <br />
