113
Lisa Hazirjian
I'm stepping forward as a nominee for Co-Chair for District One in hopes that my
experience helping organizations develop effective & enjoyable group processes and
design effective meetings can be an asset to the BEAG. In my years working in the
nonprofit sector, as well as serving on the Carrboro Human Services Advisory Board,
I've partnered with board members to develop outcome-oriented meeting agendas that
make the most of limited opportunities to do collective thinking, share ideas, identify
pivotal questions, and come to agreements. For example, this past fall & winter, I
worked remotely with a nonprofit client to help a staff subcommittee articulate a short-
term goal & desired outcome, break down steps to reach that result, and develop
monthly meeting agendas to get us through the process. I also come to this process
with track record of wanting as many perspectives as possible in public discourse and
working hard to make space for everyone to be heard. As a member of the Carrboro
Human Services Advisory Commission, to take one example, I partnered with the chair
last year to make our budget recommendation meetings more inclusive and efficient
(happy to explain the magic if you're interested!). I believe we have a tremendous team
of people assembled in this group, and I want to do what I can to make sure we end this
process feeling that both individually and collectively we've used our resources to fulfill
our charge. I would be honored to serve in that capacity.
