CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE
SECURITY AND PRESERVATION OF ALL ON-SITE STORED MATERIALS.
H. THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLEY RESPONSIBLE FOR ON-SITE SAFETY. AT A MINIMUM, THE CONTRACTOR IS TO
RESEARCH AND IMPLEMENT ALL SAFETY REGULATIONS IN FORCE IN THE JURISDICTION OF THIS PROJECT. PRIOR
TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BRING TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER ANY
DETAIL THAT WOULD PRODUCE AN UNUSUALLY UNSAFE CONDTION. AT A MINIMUM, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
ABIDE BY SAFETY STANDARDS PER OSHA, 29 CFR.
IV.TRAFFIC CONTROL:
A.THIS PARKING DECK SHALL BE CLOSED TO VECHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC WITHIN THE
CONSTRUCTION ZONE IN ALL STAGES.
B.ALL CONCRETE IN PARKING DECK REPAIRS SHALL HAVE FULL STRENGTH BEFORE PLACING TRAFFIC OVER IT.
C.THE PARKING GARAGE WILL REMAIN IN USE DURING REPAIRS. SUBMIT PHASING PLANS AND AREAS
PLANNED FOR CLOSURE TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF RESTRICTING ACCESS TO AREAS OF THE DECK TO
COMPLETE THE WORK. NO MORE THAN 25% OF ANY LEVEL SHALL BE CLOSED FOR REPARIS DURING
PROPOSED WORK PHASE.
V. CONCRETE:
A.ALL CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE & CEMENT MORTAR SHALL BE BONDED TO HARDENED CONCRETE WITH
ARMATEC 110 BONDING EPOXY. THE SURFACE TO WHICH THE BONDING EPOXY IS APPLIED SHALL FIRST BE
GIVEN A LIGHT BLASTED FINISH. SEE SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR "ARMATEC 110 BONDING EPOXY."
B.ALL CONCRETE FOR REPAIRS SHALL BE CLASS A5, WITH NO. 7 OR 8 AGGREGATE AND SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM
28-DAY COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 5000 PSI.
C.LOW PERMEABILITY CONCRETE SHALL BE USED IN THIS PROJECT.
D.CONTRACTOR SHALL EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN REMOVING EXISTING CONCRETE SO THAT NONE OF
THE PORTION OF THE EXISTING CONCRETE TO REMAIN IN PLACE IS DAMAGED. ALL EXISTING CONCRETE THAT
IS REMOVED SHALL BE REMOVED WITH PNEUMATIC HAMMER (MAXIMUM WEIGHT 15 LBS.), ANY DAMAGE SHALL
BE CORRECTIED BY CONTRACTOR, AT HIS EXPENSE, AND TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER.
E.EDGES OF ALL CONCRETE PATCHES SHALL BE SAW CUT TO A DEPTH OF 3/4" OR TO A DEPTH THAT WILL JUST
CLEAR THE REINFORCING STEEL. NO FEATHER EDGES WILL BE PERMITTED IN CONCRETE PATCHES.
F.ALL EXISTING CONCRETE THAT IS REMOVED SHALL BE REMOVED TO HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL PLANES
ONLY AND TO SOUND CONCRETE.
G.ALL CONCRETE SURFACES SHALL BE BLASTED PRIOR TO APPLICATIION OF WATERPROOFING OR BONDING
EPOXY, TO A LIGHT FINISH, THAT IS ONE SUFFICIENT TO EXPOSE FINE AGGREGATE WITH OCCASIONAL
EXPOSURE OF COARSE AGGREGATE AND TO MAKE THE COLOR UNIFORM -MAXIMUM REVEAL 1/16 INCH.
EXTREME CARE SHALL BE TAKEN IN ORDER THAT THE REINFORCING STEEL OR WELDED WIRE FABRIC IS NOT
DAMAGED.
H.ALL CONCRETE AREAS BLASTED SHALL BE BLASTED FOR A TIME SUFFICIENT TO EXPOSE SOUND
CONCRETE AND COARSE AGGREGATE UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. THEY SHALL BE BLASTED USING AN
ABRASIVE MATERIAL OR A MIXTURE OF WATER (8,000 PSI MIN.) AND ABRASIVE.
VI.REINFORCING STEEL:
A.ALL REINFORCING BAR DIMENSIONS ON THE DETAIL DRAWINGS ARE TO CENTER OF BARS EXCEPT WHEN
OTHERWISE NOTED, AND ARE SUBJECT TO FABRICATION AND CONSTRUCTION TOLERANCES.
B.ANY WELDED WIRE OR PRESTRESSED STRANDS DAMAGED AS DETERMINED BY THE ENGINEER, SHALL BE
CORRECTED AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE, & AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER.
C.WHEN DRILLING HOLES FOR ADHESIVE ANCHORS OR REBAR, EXTREME CAUTION SHALL BE TAKEN IN ORDER
THAT EXISTING PRESTRESSING STRANDS AND/OR REINFORCING STEEL IS NOT DAMAGED. ANY
PRESTRESSING STRANDS AND/OR REINFORCING STEEL DAMAGED, SHALL BE CORRECTED AT THE
CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. ADHESIVE ANCHORS SHALL BE EMBEDDED IN EXISTING CONCRETE A MINIMUM OF
3", U.N.O.
D.HOLES FOR ADHESIVE ANCHORS SHALL BE DRILLED WITH AIR DRILLS USING HOLLOW DRILL BITS. THE HOLES
SHALL BE BLOWN CLEAN DURING DRILLING WITH AIR BLOWN THROUGH THE HOLLOW BITS, THEN FULL
PENETRATION AIR "BLOWOUT" SHALL BE USED AFTER DRILL IS REMOVED TO PERFORM FINAL CLEAN OUT OF
HOLE.
E.ALL REINFORCING STEEL SHALL BE DEFORMED AND SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A615 GRADE 60, EXCEPT
WELDED WIRE FABRIC SHALL CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF ASTM A185.
