<br />II.GENERAL:
<br />A.THESE DRAWINGS, ALONG WITH ANY SPECIFICATIONS ISSUED, CONSTITUTE THE CONTRACT DESIGN
<br />DOCUMENTS. ANY DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE TWO SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER
<br />FOR CLARIFICATION. FOR ESTIMATING PURPOSES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME THE MORE COSTLY
<br />ALTERNATIVE. NO MATERIALS MAY BE ORDERED AND NO WORK MAY PROCEED UNTIL THE DISCREPANCY IS
<br />RESOLVED BY THE DESIGN PROFESSIONAL.
<br />B. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE ENGINEER SAFE ACCESS TO ALL AREAS OF WORK THROUGHOUT THE
<br />COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION AND FOR FINAL INSPECTION AFTER ALL WORK IS COMPLETE.
<br />C.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERITY, IN FIELD, ALL DIMENSIONS, AND ELEVATIONS BEFORE BEGINNING
<br />CONSTRUCTION AND BEFORE SUBMITTING SHOP DRAWINGS.
<br />D.COST OF ADHESIVE ANCHORS SHALL BE INCLUDED IN BID ITEMS WHERE THEY ARE USED.
<br />E.PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH ANY WORK ON OR ADJACENT TO THE EXISTING STRUCTURE, THE CONTRACTOR
<br />SHALL BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS, DURING CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS, IT
<br />SHALLL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF THE EXISTING STRUCTURE
<br />WHICH IS TO REMAIN IN PLACE.
<br />F. ALL AREAS DISTURBED IN THIS PROJECT, NOT COVERED BY OTHER NOTES, SHALL BE RESTORED TO ITS
<br />ORIGINAL OR BETTER CONDITION AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER, ALL COST FOR THIS SHALL BE INCLUDED IN
<br />LUMP SUM PRICE BID FOR 'MOBILIZATION'
<br />G.THE STORING OF CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT OR CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BELOW
<br />LEVEL 4 UNLESS SPECIFICALLY APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE
<br />SECURITY AND PRESERVATION OF ALL ON-SITE STORED MATERIALS.
<br />H. THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLEY RESPONSIBLE FOR ON-SITE SAFETY. AT A MINIMUM, THE CONTRACTOR IS TO
<br />RESEARCH AND IMPLEMENT ALL SAFETY REGULATIONS IN FORCE IN THE JURISDICTION OF THIS PROJECT. PRIOR
<br />TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BRING TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER ANY
<br />DETAIL THAT WOULD PRODUCE AN UNUSUALLY UNSAFE CONDTION. AT A MINIMUM, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
<br />ABIDE BY SAFETY STANDARDS PER OSHA, 29 CFR.
<br />IV.TRAFFIC CONTROL:
<br />A.THIS PARKING DECK SHALL BE CLOSED TO VECHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC WITHIN THE
<br />CONSTRUCTION ZONE IN ALL STAGES.
<br />B.ALL CONCRETE IN PARKING DECK REPAIRS SHALL HAVE FULL STRENGTH BEFORE PLACING TRAFFIC OVER IT.
<br />C.THE PARKING GARAGE WILL REMAIN IN USE DURING REPAIRS. SUBMIT PHASING PLANS AND AREAS
<br />PLANNED FOR CLOSURE TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF RESTRICTING ACCESS TO AREAS OF THE DECK TO
<br />COMPLETE THE WORK. NO MORE THAN 25% OF ANY LEVEL SHALL BE CLOSED FOR REPARIS DURING
<br />PROPOSED WORK PHASE.
<br />V. CONCRETE:
<br />A.ALL CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE & CEMENT MORTAR SHALL BE BONDED TO HARDENED CONCRETE WITH
<br />ARMATEC 110 BONDING EPOXY. THE SURFACE TO WHICH THE BONDING EPOXY IS APPLIED SHALL FIRST BE
<br />GIVEN A LIGHT BLASTED FINISH. SEE SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR "ARMATEC 110 BONDING EPOXY."
<br />B.ALL CONCRETE FOR REPAIRS SHALL BE CLASS A5, WITH NO. 7 OR 8 AGGREGATE AND SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM
<br />28-DAY COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 5000 PSI.
<br />C.LOW PERMEABILITY CONCRETE SHALL BE USED IN THIS PROJECT.
<br />D.CONTRACTOR SHALL EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN REMOVING EXISTING CONCRETE SO THAT NONE OF
<br />THE PORTION OF THE EXISTING CONCRETE TO REMAIN IN PLACE IS DAMAGED. ALL EXISTING CONCRETE THAT
<br />IS REMOVED SHALL BE REMOVED WITH PNEUMATIC HAMMER (MAXIMUM WEIGHT 15 LBS.), ANY DAMAGE SHALL
<br />BE CORRECTIED BY CONTRACTOR, AT HIS EXPENSE, AND TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER.
<br />E.EDGES OF ALL CONCRETE PATCHES SHALL BE SAW CUT TO A DEPTH OF 3/4" OR TO A DEPTH THAT WILL JUST
<br />CLEAR THE REINFORCING STEEL. NO FEATHER EDGES WILL BE PERMITTED IN CONCRETE PATCHES.
<br />F.ALL EXISTING CONCRETE THAT IS REMOVED SHALL BE REMOVED TO HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL PLANES
<br />ONLY AND TO SOUND CONCRETE.
<br />G.ALL CONCRETE SURFACES SHALL BE BLASTED PRIOR TO APPLICATIION OF WATERPROOFING OR BONDING
<br />EPOXY, TO A LIGHT FINISH, THAT IS ONE SUFFICIENT TO EXPOSE FINE AGGREGATE WITH OCCASIONAL
<br />EXPOSURE OF COARSE AGGREGATE AND TO MAKE THE COLOR UNIFORM -MAXIMUM REVEAL 1/16 INCH.
<br />EXTREME CARE SHALL BE TAKEN IN ORDER THAT THE REINFORCING STEEL OR WELDED WIRE FABRIC IS NOT
<br />DAMAGED.
<br />H.ALL CONCRETE AREAS BLASTED SHALL BE BLASTED FOR A TIME SUFFICIENT TO EXPOSE SOUND
<br />CONCRETE AND COARSE AGGREGATE UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. THEY SHALL BE BLASTED USING AN
<br />ABRASIVE MATERIAL OR A MIXTURE OF WATER (8,000 PSI MIN.) AND ABRASIVE.
<br />VI.REINFORCING STEEL:
<br />A.ALL REINFORCING BAR DIMENSIONS ON THE DETAIL DRAWINGS ARE TO CENTER OF BARS EXCEPT WHEN
<br />OTHERWISE NOTED, AND ARE SUBJECT TO FABRICATION AND CONSTRUCTION TOLERANCES.
<br />B.ANY WELDED WIRE OR PRESTRESSED STRANDS DAMAGED AS DETERMINED BY THE ENGINEER, SHALL BE
<br />CORRECTED AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE, & AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER.
<br />C.WHEN DRILLING HOLES FOR ADHESIVE ANCHORS OR REBAR, EXTREME CAUTION SHALL BE TAKEN IN ORDER
<br />THAT EXISTING PRESTRESSING STRANDS AND/OR REINFORCING STEEL IS NOT DAMAGED. ANY
<br />PRESTRESSING STRANDS AND/OR REINFORCING STEEL DAMAGED, SHALL BE CORRECTED AT THE
<br />CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. ADHESIVE ANCHORS SHALL BE EMBEDDED IN EXISTING CONCRETE A MINIMUM OF
<br />3", U.N.O.
<br />D.HOLES FOR ADHESIVE ANCHORS SHALL BE DRILLED WITH AIR DRILLS USING HOLLOW DRILL BITS. THE HOLES
<br />SHALL BE BLOWN CLEAN DURING DRILLING WITH AIR BLOWN THROUGH THE HOLLOW BITS, THEN FULL
<br />PENETRATION AIR "BLOWOUT" SHALL BE USED AFTER DRILL IS REMOVED TO PERFORM FINAL CLEAN OUT OF
<br />HOLE.
<br />E.ALL REINFORCING STEEL SHALL BE DEFORMED AND SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A615 GRADE 60, EXCEPT
<br />WELDED WIRE FABRIC SHALL CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF ASTM A185. ALL REINFORCING BAR
<br />DIMENSIONS ON THE DETAILED DRAWINGS ARE TO CENTERS OF BARS EXCEPT WHERE OTHERWISE NOTED
<br />AND ARE SUBJECT TO FABRICATION AND CONSTRUCTION TOLERANCES.
<br />VII.EPOXIES:
<br />A.ALL EPOXIES SHALL BE PROTECTED DURING CURE PERIOD SO THAT THEIR TEMPERATURE DOES NOT FALL
<br />BELOW 50° F FOR A MINIMUM PERIOD OF 24 HOURS AFTER APPLICATION.
<br />GENERAL NOTES:
<br />VIII.UTILITIES (PRESENT & FUTURE):
<br />A.THE LOCATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES, INCLUDING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES, ARE NOT SHOWN. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE ALL NECESSARY INVESTIGATIONS TO DETERMINE THE EXISTENCE AND
<br />LOCATIONS OF SUCH UTILITIES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY FOR ANY DAMAGE TO AND FOR MAINTENANCE
<br />AND PROTECTION OF EXISTING UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES.
<br />B.ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH VII, PARAGRAPH A, SHALL BE INCLUDED IN UNIT PRICE BID FOR OTHER BID ITEMS.
<br />C.SERVICE CONNECTIONS SHALL NOT BE UTILIZED FOR DEMOLITION, CONSTRUCTION AND/OR LANDSCAPING
<br />PURPOSES, UNLESS THE APPROPRIATE RPZ's/RPDA's HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AND PASSING TESTS HAVE BEEN
<br />SUBMITTED TO THE DEPT. OF WATER RESOURCES. THIS INCLUDES TEMPORARY AS WELL AS PERMANINT
<br />CONNECTIONS.
<br />D.IF ANY BACKFLOW PREVENTION ASSEMBLIES ARE FOUND DURING DEMOLITION OR WHILE OTHER WORK IS
<br />BEING PERFORMED FOR THIS PROJECT, THEY SHALL NOT BE REMOVED, RELOCATIED, OR REPLACED WITHOUT
<br />ADVANCE AUTHORIZATION FROM THE DEPT. OF WATER RESOURCES.
<br />IX.STRUCTURAL STEEL:
<br />A.ALL STRUCTURAL STEEL SHALL BE ASTM A709 GRADE 36 AND SHALL BE PAINTED.
