NCDOT Petition Information <br />Tom Ten Eyck, 919-245-2567 <br />Tom Altieri, 919-245-2579 <br />Craig Benedict, 919-245-2592 <br /> <br />PURPOSE: To make a recommendation to the North Carolina Department of Transportation <br />(NCDOT), and the North Carolina Board of Transportation (NC BOT), concerning a petition to add <br />Farm Gate Drive, Fox Hill Farm Drive, Still Meadow Lane, and Cedar Stone Way in the Fox Hill <br />Farm Central Subdivision to the State Maintained Secondary Road System. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: This request includes a petition for four (4) road additions to the State <br />Maintained Secondary Road System. The road length and width are as follows: <br /> <br />Road Name Length in Miles Number of Frontage <br />Lots with Houses <br />Pavement/Right-of- <br />way Widths in Feet <br />Farm Gate Drive 0.46 12 20/50 <br />Fox Hill Farm Drive 1.32 10 20/50 <br />Still Meadow Lane 0.17 5 18/50 <br />Cedar Stone Way 0.20 7 18/50 <br />Total 2.15 34 N/A <br /> <br />The Fox Hill Farm Central Subdivision is located in an Agricultural Residential (AR) zone, North <br />of St. Mary’s Road (State Road 1002) and east of Baldwin Road (State Road 1554) (Attachment <br />1). The single-family residential subdivision is located within Orange County’s planning <br />jurisdiction and was developed and approved subject to the County’s zoning and subdivision <br />regulations. There is no known subdivision violation associated with the subdivision. <br /> <br />The Fox Hill Farm Central Subdivision was originally recorded on September 3, 2003 (Book <br />92/Page 194) (Attachment 2). Farm Gate Drive, Fox Hill Farm Drive, Still Meadow Lane, and <br />Cedar Stone Way were designed to public road standards but have been private roads in the <br />interim; they were intended to become public roads when conditions met NCDOT maintenance <br />responsibility and ownership criteria. <br /> <br />Farm Gate Drive has a length of 0.46 miles and provides access for twelve fully-developed lots. <br />The road has a right-of-way width of 50 feet and a pavement width of 20 feet. The road serves <br />as the connection between the majority of the subdivision to the west and a branch of the <br />1
