10 <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> After almost 9 years of service as a member of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, <br /> Commissioner Mark Dorosin will step down from his position on July 31, 2021. The Orange <br /> County Board of Commissioners would like to thank Commissioner Dorosin for his hard work, <br /> dedication, and exemplary service to the residents of Orange County, and wish him and his <br /> family the very best in their future endeavors. <br /> Chair Price read the resolution: <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION <br /> FOR <br /> COMMISSIONER MARK DOROSIN <br /> WHEREAS, the residents of Orange County first elected Mark Dorosin to the Board of County <br /> Commissioners in 2012, and re-elected him in 2016 and in 2020; and <br /> WHEREAS, Commissioner Mark Dorosin has served the residents of Orange County <br /> regardless of geographic location faithfully and with honor, integrity, and distinction for the past <br /> nine years; and <br /> WHEREAS, Commissioner Dorosin has taken special interest in addressing social justice and <br /> community engagement, focusing on poverty, affordable housing, education equity, racial and <br /> socio-economic inclusion, and broad-based resident participation in county government; and <br /> WHEREAS, Commissioner Dorosin was a vocal advocate for the rights and well-being of the <br /> residents of the Historic Rogers Road Neighborhood, voting to close the county landfill, to <br /> provide water and sewer to the neighborhood and to build a new community center; and <br /> WHEREAS, during his tenure as an Orange County Commissioner, Mark Dorosin has served <br /> on many boards and commissions, including the Orange County Local Government Affordable <br /> Housing Collaborative, the Justice Advisory Council, the Durham Technical Community College <br /> Board of Trustees, Healthy Carolinians, the Chatham Orange Joint Planning Task Force, the <br /> Legislative Issues Work Group, the ABC Board, the Intergovernmental Parks Work Group, and <br /> the Fire Chiefs Association; and <br /> WHEREAS, Commissioner Mark Dorosin served as Chair of the Orange County Board of <br /> County Commissioners in 2016 and 2017, following his service as Vice Chair in 2015; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> officially commends Commissioner Mark Dorosin for his hard work, dedication and exemplary <br /> service to the people of Orange County, and wishes him and his family the very best in their <br /> future endeavors; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution of commendation be presented to <br /> Commissioner Mark Dorosin and that the Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this <br /> meeting. <br />
