The Plan makes <br />Orange County eligible far fetleral and state grants to offset County costs assocetetl wRh <br />operating the Orange Public Transportation (OPT)prtgrem. These Brent funds covers portion <br />of the County's costs of vehidea, equipment antl adminiafmgve overheatl. Staff anticipates. <br />uptlating the currant Plan and submMing it to the Commissioners in spring 2002. <br />The attached agreement is effective with Me upcoming 2002-2003 fecal year. According b the <br />application, the County can anticipate Communhy Trenspoda8on Program Brent funds to offset <br />generel adminisbative overhead in [he amount of $140,263. One of the requirements of the <br />gran[ is that the Coumy must provitle a local match of $29,752 in the budget for the upcoming <br />2002-03 fiscal year. The grant funds would support OPT system managemen[and continue to <br />promote general public rider ship. This atlministmtive support retluces the cost of each trip by <br />approximately 20 percent, and results in an increase of 20,000 [dps per year, or an average of <br />450 idps per day. <br />As required by the gent agreement, Ne Orange County Human Services Transportaton Uoek <br />contluc[a0 a public hearing at its November 27, 2001 meeting.
