Please explain the <br />impact of your <br />organization on the <br />Orange County <br />community in a <br />typical year. <br />Mandolin Orange contributes to the local artistic fabric of the Orange <br />County community. They are a band that is firmly based locally but <br />are an international success story. <br />The band also participates frequently in local fundraising efforts. <br />Most recently, the band was featured on Cov er Charge, a record <br />benefitting the historic Carrboro v enue, Cat’s Cradle. In this calendar <br />year, the band has raised funds totaling ov er $17,500 and awareness <br />for organizations both locally (Earthseed Collectiv e, BUMP The <br />Triangle, Compass Center, Country Soul Songbook) and nationally <br />(Musicares, SONG). <br />Both Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz regularly perform as guest <br />musicians on other local artists' projects. Additionally, Marlin has <br />produced a number of local records (Kate Rhudy’s Rock N’ Roll Aint <br />for Me, Bobby Britt’s Alaya and many more) and he regularly takes <br />recording projects to Chapel Hill’s Rubber Room studios. <br />The majority of the band’s recorded output is distributed by Redeye <br />Distribution and has inv olv ement from Yep Roc Records, both based <br />in Hillsborough.
