Its goal is to exhibit and sell
local artwork.
Each 22 HGA members is an equal-share gallery owner. The original
artworks created by the members are for sale and exhibited in equal
measure within the physical gallery.
HGA has no employees. As owners, gallery members do all the work
required to keep the gallery operating. Gallery members earn income
by the sale of the artworks they create. Only a small portion of sales
is retained by the corporation. The monthly dues cover the bulk of
business expenses and the small commission from sales
supplements this.
Note: questions regarding employees below are answered about
"members". 8 of our 22 members are unable to fulfill some duties
due to COVID risk. Artists were paid 59% less than last year due to
COVID.
Provide a brief
description of your
pre-pandemic core
arts-related
programming or
offerings.
The gallery offers the members’ works of art for sale and participates
in the Last Friday and Art Walks, hosts a state-wide juried art show
each January and serves as a preview gallery for the Open Studio
Tour of the Orange County Artists Guild. We host featured artists
shows of our members, special group shows, and annual group
shows highlighting authors and significant historical personalities
from Hillsborough. The gallery is an important cultural resource for
the community, the state and is also a tourism destination, attracting
national and international visitors.
DocuSign Envelope ID: B1812263-0107-45E3-95AC-75E3ADFFB529
