Please explain the
impact of your
organization on the
Orange County
community in a
typical year.
The mission of the Hillsborough Arts Council (HAC), a volunteer-
driven organization, is to enrich the community through the arts. HAC
achieves this by fostering an appreciation of the arts, engaging
diverse audiences in events and programs, and connecting artists
with audiences. HAC strives to fulfill its mission by directly serving a
wide and diverse audience of residents and artists in Hillsborough
and Northern Orange County. HAC collaborates with municipal and
community organizations to reach residents, tourists, and visitors,
and find innovative ways to bring programming to at-risk and isolated
communities.
HAC’s twelve ongoing and annual programs are all specifically
designed to promote creativity and involvement with arts in the
Hillsborough community. Among HAC’s programs there are
participatory events such as the Handmade Parade, Solstice Lantern
Walk, Art Walk, and concerts for different size audiences including
the Parlor and Garden Concerts, River Park Concert, and Last
Fridays Concerts. In addition, there are opportunities to view and
purchase artworks during Art Walk and Art in the Heart of
Hillsborough Art Fair. HAC also directly supports local artists through
sales at the Gallery and Gift Shop and through public arts projects.
HAC takes pride in being inclusive with outreach and educational
elements for all programs, working with schools and community
centers throughout the year to encourage creativity by local
residents and create opportunities to engage with the arts.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, HAC served 30,000-35,000 people
annually through events and programs. This included about 50%
Hillsborough residents, 25% residents from other areas of Orange
County, and 25% non-Orange County residents. Racial,
socioeconomic, and gender demographics vary based on program.
HAC is committed to creating access to the arts for all without
exception.
COVID-19 IMPACT
DATA
This data is for the OCAC's informational purposes only and may or
may not be applicable to your organization depending on your
structure.
Number of Staff
Eliminated March 15
- October 15
0
Number of Staff
Positions
Furloughed/Hours
Reduced March 15 -
October 15
0
Number of Public
Events Cancelled
March 15 - October
15
7
DocuSign Envelope ID: F14BDFFF-E002-4842-A89D-4AEBB13BF98C
