I graduated <br />from UNC-Chapel Hill in May 2020 and originally, I had plans to mov e <br />to NYC on June 1st, with sev eral gigs lined up that included an off- <br />Broadway reading of my play "sons that wear dresses and mothers <br />that lov e sweet potatoes." Additionally, I had applied for numerous <br />positions and internships at theaters that hav e either been cancelled <br />or postponed for the unforeseeable future. Ev erything that I worked <br />so hard for during my 4 years of undergraduate education seems to <br />be crumbling down around me. Ev en so, I am hopeful for grants like <br />this to help us artists make it through such a difficult time. <br />Have you applied for <br />unemployment <br />benefits? <br />Yes <br />Have you been <br />approved for <br />benefits? <br />No, I was denied benefits <br />W hy were you <br />denied benefits? <br />I'm honestly not sure. I applied in April and by the end of June, I still <br />hadn't heard back.
