W rap will likely stay on circulating bus until 2022 at least. <br />Project Goals -Highlight the work of BIPOC artists in our community <br />-Engage local community with national mov ements for racial justice <br />-Prov ide youth of color experiences in professional arts work and <br />public art processes <br />-Enliv en the daily commute and improv e the experience for Chapel Hill <br />Transit riders <br />-Display our v alues of inclusion, experience, and understanding <br />Audience Description Participants will include four youth and the project artist. The <br />audience for the project will be the riders of the Chapel Hill Transit <br />system and the greater Chapel Hill Carrboro community. CH Transit <br />has approximately 7,000,000 riders annually. Ridership reflects the <br />div ersity of the community and includes UNC students, working <br />professionals, families and youth, as well as inbound commuters from <br />Park & Ride lots. For those who do not ride CH Transit, the bus will be <br />a highly v isible mobile art display, on v iew for the 60,000+ people who <br />call Chapel Hill home. <br />Location Description The NAACP Youth Council Designed Art Bus will trav el throughout the <br />municipal limits of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and through the UNC <br />campus. <br />Artist Description CA&C will issue an RFQ open to Triangle artists who identify as BIPOC <br />and will ask artists to submit portfolios and prev ious experience <br />working with youth. A Selection Committee comprising <br />representativ es of the collaborating organizations will select one <br />Project Artist based on their experience working with youth and the <br />artistic excellence and relev ance of their portfolio to this project. <br />NAACP leadership will select four Youth Council members of color to <br />collaborate with the Project Artist in designing the art bus.
