Seetemi:er 5th minutes continued <br />239 <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Jones, and unanimously adopted <br />the County Accountant and the Sheriff were directed to proceed with the securing of a direct <br />telephone line to Chapel Hill, with the exception that the i;eUare Deparksent would be willing to <br />participate in the sharing of tie expense and the use of such a line. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner balker, seconded by Commissioner Jones, and unanimously adopted the <br />County Accountant was authorized to pay to each Commissioner wh'o attended the Commissioners' <br />Convention in Asheville their expenses which included registration fee, board and mileage. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Janes, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously adopted <br />the le`ister of Deeds was authorized to employ a Deputy Clerk 1. The salary for this position <br />is to be 3205.::0 Dar month as set cut in the county classification pay plan. <br />Donald Stanford <br />Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes <br />Clerk <br />Minutes of tae Board of Commissioners <br />September 25, 1961 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, September 25, 1961, in special <br />session with the representatives of tae State Hi__=.hwry Commission. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Conn. issiocars Harvey Bennett, Clarence D. Jones, <br />Donald McDade and Henry iialkec. <br />Members absent: None <br />The purpose of this m=_eti.^,c was to receive the Secondary load ?lag for Orange Count; for the <br />fiscal year of 1951-1952. <br />Jim NacLamroc, Division Highway Commissioner, I. A. Burton, Division 3nrinser, and other <br />personnel "row the State Hiehtwatr Camw'ssion were present and discussed the opposed plan in <br />detail with the Coamissioners. <br />In summary the clan provided for the expenditure of ?253,211.93 on 4.CL ;tiles of oavine_, <br />9.75 riles of stabil'_zation and IU5 miles a° road a7lirment. <br />Pr. MacLamroc noted that additional funds were exoected from the State and if such funds <br />were received additions to the crooosad prorran would be made. <br />Representatives rzo.
