ORANGE COUNTY DEPARTMENT ON AGING <br />Communications Internship extension <br /> <br />PROGRAM: Communications <br /> <br />TIME PERIOD: August 10 – September 11, 2020 <br />TOTAL 40 hours <br /> <br />HOURLY RATE: $15.00 <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION OF INTERNSHIP: <br />The Communication Intern will assist with specific projects or assignments, designed to <br />further the mission of the Orange County Department on Aging (OCDoA) to foster the well- <br />being and engagement of older adults at all levels of ability and support the Orange County <br />Master Aging Plan. The intern will work directly with, and receive guidance and mentorship <br />from, Beverly Shuford, OCDoA Communications Coordinator. <br /> <br />EXPECTED DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />The Intern will participate in the special projects or assignments as outlined below. All <br />projects are meant to increase the accessibility of information regarding available programs, <br />services, and resources (Objective 8.1). <br /> <br />Specific Projects and Assignments: <br />1. Senior Times: Assist with developing processes to streamline the Senior Times <br />production process. Conduct Senior Times improvement workgroup to refine the <br />table of content, organization and content resulting in increased engagement and <br />user-friendliness. (Strategy 8.1.3) Improve the Senior Times to be more readable <br />and user-friendly. <br />2. Welcome Packet: Continue work to develop a welcome packet which is distributed <br />to new members of both senior centers and posted on the OCDoA website. New <br />participants would receive information about programs offered, opportunities to <br />volunteer, and support that is available to them. This tool will facilitate better <br />participant engagement with the variety of activities available at OCDoA. Process <br />would include determining what information is important to include in welcome <br />packet, researching topics to create infographics for, obtaining supplies to create <br />welcome packets, and assembling agreed upon number of welcome packets. <br />3. Evergreen Content: Review OCDoA resources and identify evergreen topics for <br />promotion. Aggregate topics into a catalog of “evergreen topics”, and create a folder <br />where topics and resources can be found. Share evergreen topics with Todd for <br />promotion.
