Instructor Qualifications: Experienced in technical instruction, understanding fire alarm theory, <br />and able to provide the required training; trained by fire alarm control unit manufacturer. <br />E. Product Listing Organization Qualifications: Third party agencies shall be amongst those <br />accredited by the NCBCC (North Carolina Building Code Council) to label Electrical and <br />Mechanical Equipment. <br />1.06 WARRANTY <br />A. Provide control panel manufacturer's warranty that system components other than wire and <br />conduit are free from defects and will remain so for 1 year after Owner's acceptance. <br />B. Provide installer's warranty that the installation is free from defects and will remain so for 1 year <br />after date of Owner's acceptance. <br />C. Warranty shall cover all parts and labor required to correct any deficient parts. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 MANUFACTURERS <br />A. Addressable analog fire alarm system: <br />1. Existing Panel is Edwards EST-2. <br />2.02 FIRE ALARM SYSTEM <br />A. Fire Alarm System: Provide modifications and extensions to the existing automatic fire <br />detection and alarm system: <br />1. Provide all components necessary, regardless of whether shown in Contract Documents <br />or not. <br />2. Protected Premises: Fit up space Suite 190 and connection to base building system. <br />3. Comply with the following; where requirements conflict, order of precedence of <br />requirements is as listed: <br />a. ADA Standards. <br />b. The requirements of the State Fire Marshal. <br />c. The requirements of the local authority having jurisdiction. <br />d. Applicable local codes. <br />e. Contract Documents (drawings and specifications). <br />f. NFPA 72; where the word "should" is used consider that provision mandatory; where <br />conflicts between requirements require deviation from NFPA 72, identify deviations <br />clearly on design documents. <br />4. Evacuation Alarm: Multiple smoke zones; allow for evacuation notification of any individual <br />zone or combination of zones, in addition to general evacuation of entire premises. <br />5. General Evacuation Zones: Each smoke zone is considered a general evacuation zone <br />unless otherwise indicated, with alarm notification in all zones on the same floor, on the <br />floor above, and the floor below. <br />6. Hearing Impaired Occupants: Provide visible notification devices in all public areas. <br />B. Supervising Stations and Fire Department Connections: <br />1. Public Fire Department Notification: By remote supervising station. <br />2. Remote Supervising Station: UL-listed central station under contract to facility. <br />3. Means of Transmission to Remote Supervising Station: Project assumes the existing <br />commnuicator is operational, if not then provide the following. [Multi-technology <br />communicator. Communicator shall be able to utilize one traditional phone line and be <br />capable of IP phone and cellular communications to comply with the 2013 NFPA 72 <br />requirements for multiple communication methods.] This should currently be in place and <br />is not expected to require replacement or adjustments. <br />a. When IP communication method is selected as the alternative communication <br />method contractor shall provide a rack mounted UPS at the location of the main IP <br />phone system capable of supporting the IP phone system for a period of at least 24 <br />hours.
