Construction Documents <br />20033 <br />Orange County Europa Center <br />26 0101 - 6 ELECTRICAL GENERAL <br />PROVISIONS <br />S.Where runs of conduit and cables are shown, only the general location and routing are <br />indicated. All conduits and cables shall be installed in order to provide maximum headroom, <br />and interfere as little as possible in the space through which they pass. They shall be installed <br />as close to the building wall or structure as possible so that furring can be kept to a minimum <br />when concealed. <br />T.Where conduits are exposed, condulets with suitable covers shall be used. Each conduit fitting <br />shall be of a type suitable to its use and of a type which will allow installation of future conduits <br />without blocking covers of existing junction boxes or equipment. <br />3.03 PERFORMANCE <br />A.The Contractor shall perform all excavation and backfill operations necessary for installation of <br />his work. <br />B.Excavation and Backfill for Electrical Work: Excavation depth shall be sufficient to provide a <br />minimum cover of three feet above the top of the duct or conduit. Backfill shall be sand or <br />gravel placed in layers not exceeding one foot in depth. Each layer shall be compacted to the <br />degree that future settlement shall be minimal. <br />C.Underground Electrical: Provide color coded warning strip to be buried above all underground <br />electrical lines. The strip shall be installed in such a manner that it will adequately warn any <br />future excavators of the presence of buried lines. <br />3.04 ERECTION <br />A.All support steel, angles, channels, pipes or structural steel stands and anchoring devices that <br />may be required to rigidly support or anchor material and equipment shall be provided by this <br />Contractor. <br />B.Installation of hangers and supports shall be made to structural steel, masonry, or poured <br />concrete and shall not be installed to metal decks, steel bracing, bridging, piping or other <br />conduit. All items supported from open web joists shall be supported from the panel point only. <br />C.Fasteners for supports and hangers to steel shall be made with beam clamps, U-bolts, stud <br />welding or other approved devices. Fasteners for supports and hangers to concrete shall be <br />made with one piece malleable iron or wrought steel inserts and keyhole slots for attachment in <br />forms, with self-drilling type expansion shields with inside threads and expansion plugs or with <br />other approved type devices. Rods shall be threaded 2” at each end. No continuous thread. <br />Ramset, Hilti, or Remington low velocity type fasteners are allowed on steel columns. Powder <br />actuated fasteners are not allowed. <br />D.Provide all necessary braces, brackets, racks, trapeze supports, platforms, and iron supports, <br />channel bases, etc for all electrical equipment. Wall mounted outdoor lighting fixtures shall be <br />supported independently from the building structural steel. Provide supporting brackets as <br />required. Electrical enclosures shall be furred from outside walls and interior walls of wet areas <br />as required. Do not attach electrical equipment to the underside of steel deck. <br />3.05 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br />A.The Contractor shall test his entire installation and shall furnish the labor and materials required <br />for these tests. Tests shall be performed in accordance with the requirements of the particular <br />section of the specifications and in accordance with the requirements of the State Ordinances <br />and Codes, and the National Electrical Code. The Contractor shall notify the Architect or <br />Engineer of his readiness for such test. A final inspection by the Electrical Inspector or Local <br />Authority Having Jurisdiction is required, and an inspection certificate is required prior to <br />authorization of final payment. <br />B.All required documentation of readings required by each test shall be submitted to the Engineer <br />prior to, and as one of the prerequisites for, final acceptance of the project. <br />C.Upon completion of work, all distribution and control components and electrical equipment <br />supplied by this contractor shall be identified including switchboards, panel boards, motor <br />controls, transformers, and disconnect switches. <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: ECCAC5A0-6CC8-4B37-8AD3-89D69F0AE1AE
