Construction Documents <br />20033 <br />Orange County Europa Center <br />22 1315 - 1 SANITARY WASTE (CAST IRON) <br />SECTION 22 1315 <br />SANITARY WASTE (CAST IRON) <br />A. GENERAL <br />1.01 PROVIDE SOIL, WASTE AND VENT PIPING, SUPPORTS AND HANGERS AS REQUIRED FOR <br />A COMPLETE PLUMBING SYSTEM. <br />A.Testing of all piping shall be made in the presence of the Engineer or a designated <br />representative of the Owner. No piping shall be covered or put into operation before such <br />testing has been approved. <br />B.The arrangement of the piping shall follow the general locations shown on the Drawings, such <br />that clearances, line drainages, etc. shall be maintained. <br />1.02 B. PRODUCT <br />A.Underground building sanitary sewer lines, exterior and interior, shall be service weight cast iron <br />soil pipe and fittings, hub and spigot type with Neoprene "Charlotte" Seal. No waste or vent <br />lines less than 2" shall be installed underground. <br />B.Soil and waste lines above ground shall be no-hub cast iron pipe and fittings with neoprene <br />gasket and stainless steel clamps. Installation shall be in strict accordance with C.I.S.P. <br />Standard #301-75. <br />C.Vent piping shall be the same as waste and soil pipe, except 2" and smaller may be galvanized <br />steel with galvanized malleable drainage fittings, except where installed underground. <br />D.Soil, waste and vent piping shall be supported with Elcen Figure 12, adjustable clevis type <br />hangers, maximum ten feet on centers, and at each change in direction. <br />E.All cast iron soil pipe and fittings shall be marked with the collective trademark of the Cast Iron <br />Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI) and be listed by NSF International. <br />F.All couplings for hubless cast iron soil pipe shall conform to CISPI 310 and be certified by NSF <br />International or where indicated shall be “Heavy-Duty” type and conform to ASTM C 1540. <br />G.Condensate lines above grade, shall be no-hub cast iron pipe and fittings with neoprene gasket <br />and stainless steel clamps. No-hub joints with neoprene gasket and stainless steel camps shall <br />be installed in strict accordance with C.I.S.P. Standard #301-75. Condensate lines below grade <br />below finished grade to the finished floor slab, shall be Schedule 40 PVC-DWV ASTM D-1784 <br />and ASTM D-2665 soil pipe and fittings with solvent-weld joints. <br />1.03 C. EXECUTION <br />A."T" branches shall not be used in drainage piping, and sanitary fittings shall not be used in vent <br />stack. <br />B.In pipe chases, the Contractor shall provide for suspension of all piping from structure. Do not <br />allow piping to rub against masonry when expanding and contracting. <br />C.Close and protect open ends of piping until final connections are made. Such closing shall be <br />made with fittings that cannot be easily removed. Caps and plugs shall be required at all times <br />during construction so that no pipes are left open at the end of any day's work, even though <br />continuation is expected the next day. <br />D.Any leaky joints shall be remade with new materials. <br />E.Sleeves shall be provided wherever pipes pass through walls, floors and ceilings. Sleeves shall <br />be Schedule 40, black steel, 1/2" in diameter larger than the pipe or insulation on the pipe. <br />Sleeves through walls and ceilings shall be flush. Sleeves through floors shall be caulked and <br />made watertight. <br />F.Pipe joint compound shall be LACO or equal. <br />G.Waste and vent piping shall be hydrostatically tested at each floor. A test tee will be installed <br />below each floor and pipe will be filled with water for a height of 10' above finished floor. The <br />pipe shall be gas and water tight. Water shall stand in the system for a period of 30 minutes <br />without evidence of leakage.
