DSS Skills Development Center Smith Sinnett / 2020045 <br />Chapel Hill, North Carolina Orange County <br /> <br />MANUFACTURED PLASTIC LAMINATE CLAD CASEWORK 12 32 16 - 6 <br />1. Drawer bottom shall be particleboard, ½" thick, laminated with melamine in dove grey, frosty <br />white or light beige to match basic cabinet body color, screwed directly to the bottom edges of the <br />drawer box. Drawer bottom less than ½" thick will not be permitted. <br />2. Paper storage drawers are constructed similar except retaining hood shall be included at the rear of <br />each drawer. <br />3. Painted finished on drawer sides and/or bottom will not be permitted. <br />H. Door/Drawer Fronts: Core for all doors and applied drawer fronts shall be 3/4" thick particleboard. All <br />edges shall be finished as indicated herein. <br />1. Double doors shall be used on all cabinets in excess of 24" wide. <br />2. Exterior faces shall be laminated with high pressure decorative laminate GP-28, color as selected. <br />Interior face shall be high pressure decorative laminate color to match exterior face. <br />3. All edges shall be finished with 3mm PVC to match exterior face laminate in all locations from all <br />manufacturer’s selections. External edges and outside corners shall be machine profiled to 1/8" <br />radius. <br />2.5 COUNTERTOPS <br />A. Provide at locations noted on the drawings. <br />B. Decorative Laminate Countertops: All nominal 1" thick laminate clad countertops shown on drawings <br />shall be constructed with 1" particleboard core laminated top face with GP50 (.050) high pressure <br />decorative laminate, with BK20 backer underside. Provide tight joint fasteners where needed. All <br />exposed edges, including edges of backsplash where used, shall have 3mm PVC banding, machine <br />applied with waterproof hot melt adhesive. Exposed edges and corners shall be machine profiled to 1/8" <br />radius for safety. All edges shall be finished with 3mm PVC to match exterior face laminate in all <br />locations from all manufacturer’s selections.. <br />1. All countertops at wet areas shall require moisture resistant particleboard. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 EXAMINATION <br />A. The installer must examine the job site and the conditions under which the work under this section is to <br />be performed, and notify the contractor in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. Do not proceed with <br />work under this section until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to the <br />installer. <br />3.2 PREPARATION <br />A. Condition casework to average prevailing humidity conditions in installation areas prior to installing. <br />3.3 INSTALLATION <br />A. Install casework with factory-trained supervision authorized by manufacturer. Erect casework, plumb, <br />level, true and straight with no distortions. Shim as required. Where laminate clad casework abuts other <br />finished work, scribe and cut to accurate fit. <br />B.
