aaoaasso <br />ORANGE COUNTY HOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />A RESOLUTION REGARDING RECOMMENDED USES OF THE 199 ACRES OF THE <br />GREENE TRACT TRAT REMAIN IN JOINT OWNERSHIP <br />WHEREAS, Orange County and the Towns of Carrboro entl Chapel HIII acquiretl the <br />169 acre property known es the Greene Tract in 1934 as an asset of the joint solitl <br />waste management system; and <br />WHEREAS, tdle to 80 acres of this property was tleetletl exclusively tc Omn9a County <br />In 2000 untler proviaiona of the 1999Intetlocal °Agreement for Solitl Waste <br />Management'; and <br />WHEREAS, under [he eama interlocal agreement the County and Towns agreetl [o <br />bargain In gootl faith tluring the two year period following the aHac[ive date of the <br />agreement b tle[ermine the ultimate use or dlSDOSlllen of the remaining W9 acea of <br />the Greene Tract; entl <br />WHEREAS, on November 19, 2001, the Greene Tract W oik Group, compdsetl of Mro <br />electetl representatives appointed from each juristlidion, approvetl a resolution making <br />recommentlations to the County and Town governing boards regaMing basic uses to be <br />pmgmmmatl for the 199 acres of the Greene Tract that remain in joint ownership; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners tloes hereby affirm solely the three public purposes of open apace, <br />affoNable housing (es defnetl in [he Affordable Housing Task Force report), and <br />nation as the three basic uses [o be programmetl for [he 109 acres of the Greene <br />Tmc[ that remain in joint ownership; entl <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Orange County Boam of Commissioners does <br />hereby affirm That this property will not be usetl for any solitl waste management <br />purposes; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT [he Orange County BoaN of Commissioners tloes <br />hereby charge the Greene Tract W ork Group to tlevelop a more tlerailetl written entl <br />grephic concept plan for the use of the 109 acres for presentation b each hceN by <br />March 2002. <br />This, the 3" tlay N December, 2001 <br />
