2 <br /> RES-2021-056 Attachment 1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPOINTMENT OF COREY ROOT TO THE <br /> CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY ACTION, INC. BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br /> WHEREAS, Central Piedmont Community Action, Inc. (CPCA), formerly known as Joint <br /> Orange-Chatham Community Action, Inc. (JOCCA) until March 2016, is a private nonprofit <br /> human service organization established in March 1966 by the Board of Commissioners of Orange <br /> and Chatham Counties to seek funds, administer programs and provide services to low-income <br /> families and individuals; and <br /> WHEREAS, CPCA mobilizes resources from federal, state and local governments as well <br /> as private foundations; and <br /> WHEREAS, programs are developed and approved under the guidance of the Board of <br /> Directors, consisting of representatives from the private, public and low-income sectors of the <br /> counties, with public representatives on the Board of Directors being designated by the County <br /> Commissioners; and <br /> WHEREAS, historically, the Director of the Orange County Department of Housing and <br /> Community Development has been designated as a member of the Board of Directors; and <br /> WHEREAS, the new Department Director, Corey Root,must be approved by the Board of <br /> Commissioners to be appointed to the CPCA Board of Directors; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners authorizes the appointment of Corey Root to the Central Piedmont Community <br /> Action, Inc.
