3 <br /> RES-2021-055 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DONATION OF SURPLUS, OBSOLETE, OR <br /> UNSED COUNTY EQUIPMENT TO THE ORANGE RURAL FIRE DEPARTMENT TO <br /> THE PROVISION OF N.C.G.S. 160A-280 <br /> WHEREAS,in 2015, Orange County purchased an Inmar rigid inflatable boat and Suzuki <br /> motor to enhance the Swiftwater rescue capabilities within the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange Rural Fire Department has been assigned this equipment and <br /> completed training to provide these rescue capabilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orange Rural Fire Department has determined that the vessel has met life <br /> expectancy and is beyond repair; and <br /> WHEREAS, County staff recommends that this equipment be donated to Orange Rural <br /> Fire Department, a fire district,which is a governmental unit as defined by N.C.G.S. 160A-274(a), <br /> to be used for emergency rescue purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to the provision of N.C.G.S. 160A-280 allowing counties to donate <br /> to another governmental unit any personal property that the Board of County Commissioners <br /> deems to be surplus, obsolete, or unused; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the provision of N.C.G.S. 160A-280, the Orange County Board <br /> of Commissioners has caused public notice of this proposed Resolution to be posted at least five <br /> days prior to the adoption of this Resolution approving the donation; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners hereby approves the donation pursuant to the provisions of N.C.G.S. 160A-280 by <br /> Orange County to the Orange Rural Fire Department of the above described personal property to <br /> be used for emergency rescue services. <br /> Adopted this 2nd day of September 2021. <br /> Renee Price, Chair <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
