She
wished him well.
Commissioner Bedford said the Board will miss Commissioner Dorosin's ability to think
fast on his feet, to keep the Board on track and organized when going down a rabbit hole and to
help the Board come to good decisions. She commended Commissioner Dorosin for taking a
position and it not being personal, even if one disagrees with him. She said the Board will miss
him.
Commissioner Fowler said she has enjoyed working with Commissioner Dorosin, and
appreciates where he comes from, regardless of any difference in opinion, and appreciates his
advocacy for social justice. She wished him the best in his next chapter.
Commissioner Greene said the County will miss Commissioner Dorosin's strong social
justice voice that comes from the same conviction that is causing him to leave the Board and go
to Florida. She wished Commissioner Dorosin the best in training new young civil rights lawyers
to pick up the torch.
Commissioner Hamilton thanked Commissioner Dorosin for his service as a
Commissioner and his other public service, and said he has made a difference to the
community. She said this is North Carolina's loss and Florida's gain. She said she is
disappointed because she was looking forward to learning from Commissioner Dorosin on how
to be effective as a County Commissioner. She wished him and his family the best.
Commissioner McKee said he enjoyed working with Commissioner Dorosin for almost
10 years now, and he made him a better commissioner. He said he will consider him a
Commissioner until the end of the day on July 31.
Commissioner Dorosin thanked the Board for its words. He said the generous
outpouring of support humbles him. He said his family has been in NC for 30 years, and it was
a difficult decision to move. He said the work he has been a part of on the BOCC has been
transformative for the community and for him as an individual. He said he has learned so much
from his colleagues, both current and previous. He said it has been challenging work, but
meaningful, and he appreciates the time and energy staff and the commissioners have put in.
He said the County is very fortunate to have such wonderful staff. He said it has been a
wonderful experience, and on one hand it has exceeded his wildest expectations, but he wishes
he could have done more. He said the Board faces a hostile state legislature and statutes that
constrain it from being as creative as it would like to be. He said he is humbled to have had the
opportunity to work with the community and the BOCC.

5. Public Hearings
None
