2 <br /> 1 A motion was made by Commissioner Greene, seconded by Commissioner Dorosin, to <br /> 2 add discussion on the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board request to exceed state salary limit for <br /> 3 the ABC Board General Manager, discussion on Board of Commissioners Vacancy, and <br /> 4 discussion on the renaming of UNC Student Stores in honor of James Cates to the agenda. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Roll call ensued <br /> 7 <br /> 8 VOTE: Ayes, 6 (Commissioner Greene, Commissioner Fowler, Commissioner Dorosin, <br /> 9 Commissioner Bedford, and Chair Price); Nays, 1 (Commissioner Hamilton) <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Laura Jensen said staff recommends placing the ABC Board discussion on the Agenda <br /> 12 as Item 6-e, and the Commissioner Vacancy discussion as Item 7-b. <br /> 13 Chair Price asked if the Board must vote on the process to follow filling the <br /> 14 Commissioner Vacancy. <br /> 15 John Roberts said the Board will need to decide on a process, and it should probably be <br /> 16 done by vote. <br /> 17 The Board agreed by consensus to add the additional items under Item 6 as e, f, and g. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Chair Price dispensed with reading the public charge. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Public Charge: The Board of Commissioners pledges its respect to all present. The Board asks <br /> 22 those attending this meeting to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner toward <br /> 23 each other, county staff and the commissioners. At any time should a member of the Board or <br /> 24 the public fail to observe this charge, the Chair will take steps to restore order and decorum. <br /> 25 Should it become impossible to restore order and continue the meeting, the Chair will recess the <br /> 26 meeting until such time that a genuine commitment to this public charge is observed. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 42 Commissioner Hamilton said it would have been helpful to be able to review some of the <br /> 43 items added to tonight's agenda prior to voting. <br /> 44 Commissioner Fowler said she attended the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) <br /> 45 meeting on June 4, and the Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization (TARPO) meeting on <br /> 46 June 10. She said several updates were received at the JCPC meeting, including a finance <br /> 47 report that indicated Boomerang will not receive funding. She said there are two vacancies on <br /> 48 the JCPC Board: one for a youth representative and one for a member of the faith community. <br /> 49 She said the Board has received an extensive update from JCPC within this evening's agenda <br /> 50 packet. She said the TARPO meeting also included various updates. She said there is a new <br /> 51 app for truck drivers that provides real time road alerts. She said the remaining TARPO <br />
