14 <br /> BOCC Elections Advisory Group <br /> Charge & Timeline <br /> Charge <br /> To review, research, and evaluate the current method of electing <br /> commissioners, as well as any alternative electoral methods or models, <br /> including but not limited to single member districts, aligning primary and <br /> general election methods, multi-seat elections, and the number of <br /> commissioners. The Advisory Group shall assess all options and alternatives <br /> pursuant to the following criteria: <br /> ➢ Constitutional and statutory requirements and voting rights law; <br /> ➢ Proportionality <br /> ➢ Equity <br /> ➢ Uniformity <br /> ➢ Simplicity/clarity <br /> ➢ Maximizing voter engagement <br /> The Advisory Group's assessment should incorporate, to the extent possible, <br /> anticipated population distribution changes based on the 2020 census. <br /> The Advisory Group may consider options that require enabling legislation; <br /> however, it must present to the BOCC options that do not require such <br /> authorization. <br /> Timeline <br /> At its May 5, 2020 Virtual Business meeting, the Board of Commissioners <br /> voted to have the Group review options and report back by July 31 , 2021 . <br />
