SHSC HVAC and Roof Replacement Smith Sinnett / 2020072 <br />Orange County, North Carolina <br /> <br />SELECTIVE ROOF AND STRUCTURE DEMOLITION 02 07 00 - 4 <br />3.4 SELECTIVE DEMOLITION <br />A. Demolish and remove existing construction only to the extent required by new construction and as <br />indicated. Use methods required to complete Work within limitations of governing regulations and as <br />follows: <br />1. Remove roofing system and fasteners in a manner that will not damage the existing decking <br />below. <br />2. Cut or drill from the exposed or finished side into concealed surfaces to avoid marring existing <br />finished surfaces. <br />3. Remove decayed, vermin-infested, or otherwise dangerous or unsuitable materials and promptly <br />dispose of off-site. <br />4. Dispose of demolished items and materials promptly. On-site storage or sale of removed items is <br />prohibited. <br />5. Return elements of construction and surfaces to remain to condition existing before start of <br />selective demolition operations. <br />B. Remove no more existing roofing than can be covered before rain and within one day by new roofing. <br />See applicable Division 7 Section for new roofing requirements. <br />C. Protect all work to remain. <br />D. Repair all work to remain where damaged during demolition or installation of the new roof system. <br />E. Relocation of existing plumbing roof vents: <br />1. Relocate existing plumbing roof vents to align with center of panel units. Patch and repair existing <br />roof deck assemblies where plumbing vents are relocated. Provide pipe off-set assembly. Pipe <br />material to match existing vent material. Extend vent to 12 inches above finish roof surface unless <br />otherwise shown or required. <br />3.5 PATCHING AND REPAIRS <br />A. Promptly patch and repair holes and damaged roof deck surfaces caused by removal of the existing <br />roof such as nail holes. Depressions, gouge marks, etc. <br />B. Where repairs to existing surfaces are required, patch to produce surfaces suitable for new materials. <br />1. Completely fill holes and depressions in existing decking materials to remain with an approved <br />deck patching material, applied according to manufacturer's printed recommendations. <br />C. Restore exposed finishes of patched areas and extend finish restoration into adjoining construction to <br />remain in a manner that eliminates evidence of patching and refinishing. <br />3.6 DISPOSAL OF DEMOLISHED MATERIALS <br />A. General: Promptly dispose of demolished materials. Do not allow demolished materials to accumulate <br />on-site. <br />B. Burning: Do not burn demolished materials. <br />C. Disposal: Transport demolished materials off Owner's property and legally dispose of them. <br />D. Cleaning: Sweep the roof deck broom clean on completion of demolition and prior to installation of new <br />roof system. <br />3.7 METAL DECK REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT <br />A. Metal Deck Repair: Deterioration pr damaged areas greater than 2” and less than 12” square or diameter <br />or less shall be repaired with either 16ga. steel sheet or 2 layers of 22ga. metal. Sheet shall be sized to <br />extend a minimum of 6” on all sides beyond the size of the deficient area.
