SHSC HVAC and Roof Replacement Smith Sinnett / 2020072 <br />Orange County, North Carolina <br /> <br />SELECTIVE ROOF AND STRUCTURE DEMOLITION 02 07 00 - 1 <br />SECTION 02 07 00 - ROOF DEMOLITION AND STRUCTURE DEMOLITION <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br />A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and <br />Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. <br />1.2 SUMMARY <br />A. This Section includes the following: <br />1. Demolition and removal of selected portions of existing roof, including but not limited to: <br />a. Existing Bult-up Roof <br />b. Existing Roof Insulation <br />c. Existing Fasteners <br />d. Soffit and Fascia assembly <br />e. Any and all other materials down to existing light weight concrete and/metal deck <br /> system. <br />B. Existing Conditions: <br />1. The existing roofing system is a ballasted built-up EPDM over insulation and metal roof deck or <br />Standing seam metal over plywood substrate. Any areas damaged during construction shall be <br />repaired at the Contractor’s expense. <br />C. Examination: <br />1. Roof Contractor shall examine existing metal roof deck or plywood substrate surface after <br />demolition and prior to new roof installation and correct all deficiencies prior to proceeding with <br />roof installation. Assure all conditions of the existing roof deck are acceptable in every respect <br />before proceeding. Proceeding with roof installation constitutes acceptance by the Contractor of <br />the roof deck and sub surface in its entirety. <br />D. Related Sections: The following Sections contain requirements that relate to this Section: <br />1. Division 01 Section "Summary of Work" for use of the building and phasing requirements. <br />1.3 DEFINITIONS <br />A. Remove: Remove and legally dispose of items except those indicated to be reinstalled, salvaged, or to <br />remain the Owner's property. <br />B. Remove and Salvage: Items indicated to be removed and salvaged remain the Owner's property. <br />Remove, clean, and pack or crate items to protect against damage. Identify contents of containers and <br />deliver to Owner's designated storage area. <br />C. Remove and Reinstall: Remove items indicated; clean, service, and otherwise prepare them for reuse; <br />store and protect against damage. Reinstall items in the same locations or in locations indicated. <br />D. Existing to Remain: Protect construction indicated to remain against damage and soiling during <br />selective demolition.
