Secontlary ROetl Abandonment Report TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br /> Hillsborough ]33-8151 <br /> Lhepal Hill 988-0501 <br /> Durham 888-]191 <br />PURPOSE: To mnalder a pallllon receNetl by North Carolina Department of Tranepormdon <br />(NCOOT) for abantlonmenl of Clytle Roatl in Chapel Hill Township from the State Secentlary <br />Road Maintenance Program. <br />BACKGROUND: The Town o/ Chapel Hill has pe[hionetl NCDOT to abandon maintenance <br />responsibilities fora 0.2] mile segment of Clyde Roed (SR 2200) located off the east side of <br />Mill House Roed (SR 7725). A 0.09-mile segment from Mill House Roatl will remain in the <br />maintenance program to provitle access b the properly. No residences use this segment of <br />Clyde Road for access. (Interstate 40 severs Clyde Road. This segment is west of I-00 antl <br />tennineles at I-00. Another segment of Clyde Roed takes access from US 86 antl terminates <br />east of IdO.) A map is edached for referenra. <br />The Town of Chapel Hill has recently purchased properties abuding Clyde Road to develop as a <br />public works site. The site is lopfed in the Joint Planning Area with the southern portion of the <br />site in Chapel Hill's Transition Area. Chapel Hill is requerting abantlonmenl of Me public dghl- <br />of-way from Stale highway system far maintenance in oMer to prevent unlawful dumping on Me <br />site. <br />NWOT has invesfigatetl this request (sea attached Secontlery Roatl Abentlonmanl Report) <br />antl has submidetl Ne ped[bn to the Boam of Commissioners for its review antl approval.
