Southern Human Services Center Smith Sinnett /2020072 <br />HVAC and Roof Renovations Orange County,North Carolina <br />Air Duct Accessories 23 33 00 - 5 <br />2.10 MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCTS <br />A.Internal Strut End Plugs: Combination end-mounting and sealing plugs for metal conduit used as <br />internal reinforcement struts for metal ducts;plug crimped inside conduit with outside gasketed <br />washer seal. <br />B.Duct Opening Closure Film: Mold-resistant,self-adhesive film to keep debris out of ducts during <br />construction. <br />1.Thickness: 2 mils. <br />2.High tack water based adhesive. <br />3.UV stable light blue color. <br />4.Elongation Before Break: 325 percent,minimum. <br />5.Manufacturers: <br />a.Carlisle HVAC Products;Dynair Duct Protection Film <br />b.Surface Shields <br />c.Trimaco <br />d.Ductmate ProGuard <br />e.Or Approved Equal <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSTALLATION <br />A.Install accessories in accordance with manufacturer's instructions,NFPA 90A,and follow <br />SMACNA (DCS). Refer to Section 23 31 00 for duct construction and pressure class. <br />B.Provide backdraft dampers on exhaust fans or exhaust ducts nearest to outside and where <br />indicated. <br />C.Provide a pre-manufactured support at each diffuser to turn the flex duct into a 90°elbow. <br />D.Contractor shall identify balancing dampers above the ceiling by either spray painting them bright <br />orange or hanging an orange flag from the damper handle.If hanging a flag in a return air plenum, <br />material shall comply with fire and smoke spread ratings for plenum use. <br />E.All fire dampers,smoke dampers,and combination fire/smoke dampers shall be installed with <br />bottom edge 24"maximum above lay-in ceiling. <br />F.All balancing dampers shall be installed maximum 30"above the lay-in ceiling. <br />G.Provide duct access doors for inspection and cleaning before and after filters,coils,fans, <br />automatic dampers,at fire dampers,combination fire and smoke dampers,and elsewhere as <br />indicated.​​Provide minimum ​12 by 12 inch​size for hand access, size for shoulder access,and as <br />indicated. Provide ​8 by 8 inch​for balancing dampers only. Review locations prior to fabrication. <br />H.Provide duct test holes where indicated and required for testing and balancing purposes. <br />I.The Contractor shall inspect and test all existing fire dampers in accordance with NFPA 80 in the <br />presence of the Authority Having Jurisdiction. <br />J.Demonstrate re-setting of fire dampers to Owner's representative. <br />K.At fans and motorized equipment associated with ducts,provide flexible duct connections <br />immediately adjacent to the equipment. <br />L.At equipment supported by vibration isolators,provide flexible duct connections immediately <br />adjacent to the equipment. <br />1.Refer to Section 23 05 48. <br />M.Provide balancing dampers at points on supply,return,and exhaust systems where branches are <br />taken from larger ducts as required for air balancing.
