Southern Human Services Center Smith Sinnett /2020072 <br />HVAC and Roof Renovations Orange County,North Carolina <br />Hydronic Piping 23 21 13 - 2 <br />a.Flushing and cleaning procedure narratives. <br />b.Size,power source,and connection points of contractor provided pumps that will be <br />used for flushing and cleaning.Use of new or existing building pumps for <br />flushing/cleaning systems will NOT be permitted. <br />c.At all new coils,provide temporary flushing bypass lines. <br />d.For existing coils on other areas of the floor,contractor shall provide a means to bypass <br />coils to ensure system can be flushed clean.This may involved isolating individual coils <br />for initial flush of mains,followed by individual flush at strainer blowdowns for secondary <br />flush. <br />e.Remove critical components (control valves,water meters,etc.)that could be damaged <br />and provide temporary spool pieces in piping and provide temporary bypass around coils <br />which could be damaged by circulating debris. <br />f.Flushing schedule and drawings or diagrams to be used shall be signed off by Engineer, <br />CxA,and Owner. <br />1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products of the type specified <br />in this section,with minimum three years of documented experience. <br />B.Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing work of the type specified in this <br />sectionwith minimum five years of experience. <br />C.Provide all grooved joint couplings,fittings,valves,specialties,and grooving tools from a single <br />manufacturer. <br />D.Coupling Manufacturer: <br />1.Perform on-site training by factory-trained representative to the Contractor's field personnel in <br />the proper use of grooving tools and installation of grooved joint products. <br />2.Periodic job site visits by factory-trained representative to ensure best practices in grooved <br />joint installation. <br />E.Welder Qualifications: Certify in accordance with ASME BPVC-IX. <br />1.Provide certificate of compliance from authority having jurisdiction,indicating approval of <br />welders. <br />1.05 DELIVERY,STORAGE,AND HANDLING <br />A.Accept valves on site in shipping containers with labeling in place. Inspect for damage. <br />B.Provide temporary protective coating on cast iron and steel valves. <br />C.Provide temporary end caps and closures on piping and fittings. Maintain in place until installation. <br />D.Protect piping systems from entry of foreign materials by temporary covers,completing sections of <br />the work,and isolating parts of completed system. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 HYDRONIC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS <br />A.Comply with ASME B31.9 and applicable federal,state,and local regulations. <br />B.Piping: Provide piping,fittings,hangers,and supports as required,as indicated,and as follows: <br />1.Where more than one piping system material is specified,provide joining fittings that are <br />compatible with piping materials and ensure that the integrity of the system is not <br />jeopardized. <br />2.Use only long radius elbows having cenerline radii of 1.5 pipe diameters unless otherwise <br />indicated. <br />3.Where size for a pipe segment is not indicated,the pipe segment shall be equal to the largest <br />pipe segment to which it is connected.Transition to smaller size shall occur on the side of the <br />fitting where smaller size is indicated. <br />4.Unless otherwise indicated,fittings and accessories connected to pipe shall be of the same <br />material as the pipe. <br />5.Use non-conducting dielectric connections whenever jointing dissimilar metals. <br />6.Grooved mechanical joints may be used in accessible locations only. <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 94E7997D-4F29-42F6-A9B4-0A160438D2A6
