Southern Human Services Center Smith Sinnett /2020072 <br />HVAC and Roof Renovations Orange County,North Carolina <br />BAS Control Dampers 23 09 13.43 - 1 <br />SECTION 23 09 13.43 <br />BAS CONTROL DAMPERS <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 REFERENCES <br />A.Refer to Section 23 09 00 -References <br />1.02 ACRONYMS,ABBREVIATIONS AND DEFINITIONS <br />A.Refer to Section 23 09 00 -Acronyms,Abbreviations and Definitions <br />PART 2 PRODUCT <br />2.01 AUTOMATIC CONTROL DAMPERS <br />A.Manufacturers: <br />1.Tamco <br />2.Ruskin <br />3.Johnson <br />4.Greenheck <br />5.Nailor <br />6.Or Approved Equal <br />B.Dampers shall be minimum leakage type to conserve energy and the temperature control <br />manufacturer shall submit leakage data for all control dampers with the temperature control <br />submittal. <br />C.Damper leakage ratings shall be certified in accordance with AMCA Standard 500-D. <br />D.Provide any automatic control dampers not specified to be integral with other equipment. <br />E.Provide automatic control dampers as specified herein: <br />1.Frame construction shall not be less than 14 gauge galvanized steel at a minimum 4-1/2”X 1” <br />X 0.125”in thickness. <br />2.Blades shall be single skin and not less than 16-gauge galvanized steel roll formed. Blades <br />shall not be over:8”wide,48”in length and 72”high. <br />3.All blade edges and top and bottom of frame shall be provided with compressible seals. Side <br />seals shall be compressible stainless steel of the tight-seal spring type. <br />4.Blade seals shall provide for a maximum leakage rate of 10 CFM per square foot at 2.5 <br />inches of WC differential pressure. Dampers and seals shall be suitable for temperature <br />ranges of -40 to 180 °F. <br />5.Bearings shall corrosion resistant,molded synthetic sleeve type turning in an extruded hole in <br />the damper frame. <br />6.Axles shall be a minimum of ½”diameter and be welded to blade or riveted to blade <br />7.Dampers shall be sized to meet flow requirements of the application. The sheet metal <br />contractor shall furnish and install baffles to fit the damper to duct size. Baffles shall not <br />exceed 6". <br />8.Where ultra-low leakage dampers are specified the blade edges shall be fitted with <br />replaceable,snap-on,inflatable seals to limit damper leakage to 6 CFM per square foot for <br />dampers in excess of sixteen inches square at 1 inch of WC. <br />9.Individual damper sections shall not be larger than 48”X 60”. Provide a minimum of one <br />damper actuator per section. <br />10.All proportional control dampers shall be opposed or parallel blade type as hereinafter <br />specified and all two-position dampers shall be parallel blade types. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 CO-ORDINATION <br />A.Coordinate delivery of dampers to site. <br />B.Clearly tag and mark dampers for their purpose and location. <br />C.Supervise Mechanical Contractor in the installation of the dampers ensuring proper dampers(s) <br />are located and installed in proper location(s) <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 94E7997D-4F29-42F6-A9B4-0A160438D2A6
