Southern Human Services Center Smith Sinnett /2020072 <br />HVAC and Roof Renovations Orange County,North Carolina <br />HVAC Piping Insulation 23 07 19 - 2 <br />C.Manufacturer's Instructions: Indicate installation procedures that ensure acceptable workmanship <br />and installation standards will be achieved. <br />D.Provide plates from MICA 8th edition manual for each insulation system on the project as part of <br />the submittals.The plates for each system shall be filled out by the insulating contractor for each <br />product being used. <br />1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the Products specified in this <br />section with not less than three years of documented experience. <br />B.Applicator Qualifications: Company specializing in performing the type of work specified in this <br />section ​with minimum five years of experience​. <br />1.05 DELIVERY,STORAGE,AND HANDLING <br />A.Accept materials on site,labeled with manufacturer's identification,product density,and thickness. <br />B.Store insulation in original wrapping and protect from weather and construction traffic.Protect <br />insulation against dirt,water,chemical,and mechanical damage. <br />1.06 FIELD CONDITIONS <br />A.Maintain ambient conditions required by manufacturers of each product. <br />B.Maintain temperature before,during,and after installation for minimum of 24 hours. <br />C.Insulation shall not be installed until all testing and inspection of pipe,duct,vessel,etc.has been <br />completed and approved by Engineer/Owner’s representative. <br />D.Replace insulation damaged by either moisture or other means.Insulation which has been wet, <br />whether dried or not,is considered damaged.Make repairs where condensation is caused by <br />improper installation of insulation.Also replace any materials damaged by the condensation. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS <br />A.Surface Burning Characteristics: Flame spread index/Smoke developed index of 25/50,maximum, <br />when tested in accordance with ASTM E84,UL 723,ASTM E84,or UL 723. <br />2.02 GLASS FIBER,RIGID <br />A.Manufacturers: <br />1.CertainTeed Corporation​​ <br />2.Johns Manville Corporation​​ <br />3.Knauf Insulation​​ <br />4.Owens Corning Corporation​​ <br />5.Manson Insulation <br />6.Or Approved Equal <br />B.Insulation: ASTM C547and ASTM C795;rigid molded,noncombustible. <br />1.K Value: ASTM C177,0.24 at 75 degrees F. <br />2.Maximum Service Temperature: 850 degrees F. <br />3.Maximum Moisture Absorption: 0.2 percent by volume. <br />C.Vapor Barrier Jacket: White kraft paper with glass fiber yarn,bonded to aluminized film;moisture <br />vapor transmission when tested in accordance with ASTM E96/E96M of 0.02 perm-inches. <br />D.Tie Wire: 0.048 inch stainless steel with twisted ends on maximum 12 inch centers. <br />E.Vapor Barrier Lap Adhesive: Compatible with insulation. <br />F.Insulating Cement/Mastic: ASTM C195;hydraulic setting on mineral wool. <br />G.Fibrous Glass Fabric: <br />1.Cloth: Untreated;9 oz/sq yd weight. <br />2.Blanket: 1.0 lb/cu ft density. <br />3.Weave: 5 by 5. <br />H.Indoor Vapor Barrier Finish: <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 94E7997D-4F29-42F6-A9B4-0A160438D2A6
