Southern Human Services Center Smith Sinnett /2020072 <br />HVAC and Roof Renovations Orange County,North Carolina <br />Duct Insulation 23 07 13 - 1 <br />SECTION 23 07 13 <br />DUCT INSULATION <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 SECTION INCLUDES <br />A.Duct insulation. <br />B.Duct liner. <br />C.Insulation jackets. <br />1.02 REFERENCE STANDARDS <br />A.ASTM C518 -Standard Test Method for Steady-State Thermal Transmission Properties by Means <br />of the Heat Flow Meter Apparatus 2017. <br />B.ASTM C534/C534M -Standard Specification for Preformed Flexible Elastomeric Cellular Thermal <br />Insulation in Sheet and Tubular Form 2020a. <br />C.ASTM C553 -Standard Specification for Mineral Fiber Blanket Thermal Insulation for Commercial <br />and Industrial Applications 2013 (Reapproved 2019). <br />D.ASTM C612 -Standard Specification for Mineral Fiber Block and Board Thermal Insulation 2014 <br />(Reapproved 2019). <br />E.ASTM C916 -Standard Specification for Adhesives for Duct Thermal Insulation 2020. <br />F.ASTM C1071 -Standard Specification for Fibrous Glass Duct Lining Insulation (Thermal and <br />Sound Absorbing Material)2019. <br />G.ASTM E96/E96M -Standard Test Methods for Water Vapor Transmission of Materials 2016. <br />H.ASTM G21 -Standard Practice for Determining Resistance of Synthetic Polymeric Materials to <br />Fungi 2015. <br />1.03 SUBMITTALS <br />A.Product Data:Provide product description,thermal characteristics,list of materials and thickness <br />for each service,and locations.Include the following information: <br />1.Schedule indicating insulation type,thickness,and location for each service <br />2.Density <br />3.Compressive Strength <br />4."k"value at 75 deg F <br />5.Nominal "R"value <br />6.Flame spread rating <br />B.Manufacturer's Instructions: Indicate installation procedures necessary to ensure acceptable <br />workmanship and that installation standards will be achieved. <br />1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products of the type specified <br />in this section with not less than three years of documented experience. <br />B.Applicator Qualifications: Company specializing in performing the type of work specified in this <br />section,with minimum three years of experience and approved by manufacturer. <br />C.Before installing insulation,build mockups for each type of insulation and finish listed below to <br />demonstrate quality of insulation application and finishes. Build mockups in the location indicated <br />or,if not indicated,as directed by Owner. Use materials indicated for the completed Work. <br />Mockups shall include piping insulation,ductwork insulation and equipment insulation. <br />D.All the ductwork and piping in pump rooms,mechanical rooms and equipment rooms including <br />areas without ceilings is to be considered as exposed piping or ductwork.This also includes <br />penthouses,interstitial spaces,and crawl spaces,where applicable. <br />1.05 DELIVERY,STORAGE,AND HANDLING <br />A.Accept materials on site in original factory packaging,labelled with manufacturer's identification, <br />including product density and thickness. <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 94E7997D-4F29-42F6-A9B4-0A160438D2A6
