SHSC HVAC and Roof Replacement Smith Sinnett / 2020072 <br />Orange County, North Carolina <br /> <br />SHEET METAL FLASHING AND TRIM 07 62 00 - 4 <br />F. Sealed Joints: Form nonexpansion, but movable, joints in metal to accommodate elastomeric sealant to <br />comply with SMACNA standards and as follows: <br />G. Fabricate sealed joints in prefinished sheet metal with butt joints and concealed splice plates. Install <br />silicone elastomeric sealant between exposed metal work and splice plates, and rivet one side of <br />fabricated unit to splice plate for strength. <br />1. Do not use lapped or bayonet-type (nested) joints for sheet metal fabrications. <br />2. Fabricate concealed splice plates of specific size and profile to maintain lines and form of <br />fabricated work. <br />3. Provide a 1/8" gap between fabricated units at butt joints. <br />H. Separate metal from noncompatible metal or corrosive substrates by coating concealed surfaces at <br />locations of contact with asphalt mastic or other permanent separation as recommended by manufacturer. <br />I. Conceal fasteners and expansion provisions where possible. Exposed fasteners are not allowed on faces <br />of sheet metal exposed to public view. <br />J. Fabricate cleats and attachment devices from same material as sheet metal component being anchored or <br />from compatible, noncorrosive metal recommended by sheet metal manufacturer. <br />K. Size: As recommended by SMACNA manual or sheet metal manufacturer for application but never less <br />than thickness of metal being secured. <br />2.4 SHEET METAL FABRICATIONS <br />A. General: Fabricate sheet metal items in thickness or weight needed to comply with performance <br />requirements but not less than that listed below for each application and metal. <br />B. Exposed Trim and Parapet Caps: Fabricate from the following material: <br />1. 22 Ga., 0299 Metallic Coated Steel Sheet <br />C. Base Flashing: Fabricate from the following material: <br />1. 22 Ga., 0299 Metallic Coated Steel Sheet <br />D. Counterflashing: Fabricate from the following material: <br />1. 22 Ga., 0299 Metallic Coated Steel Sheet <br />2.5 ROOF DRAINAGE SHEET METAL FABRICATIONS <br />A. Hanging Gutters: Fabricate to cross section indicated, complete with end pieces, outlet tubes, and other <br />accessories as required. Fabricate in minimum 120-inch- long sections. Furnish flat-stock gutter spacers <br />and gutter brackets fabricated from same metal as gutters, of size recommended by SMACNA but not <br />less than twice the gutter thickness. Fabricate expansion joints, expansion-joint covers, and gutter <br />accessories from same metal as gutters. <br />1. Expansion Joints: Butt type with cover plate. <br />2. Accessories: Wire ball downspout strainer, Valley baffles, Continuous removable leaf screen with <br />sheet metal frame and hardware cloth screen. <br />3. Gutters, Fabricate from the following materials: <br />a. Aluminum-Zinc Alloy-Coated Steel Sheet, 22 gauge <br />b. Exterior Finish: Fluoropolymer two-coat system. <br />c. Color: As selected by Architect from manufacturer's standard colors. <br />d. Size: 5” x 5” where indicated in drawings.
