SHSC HVAC and Roof Replacement Smith Sinnett / 2020072 <br />Orange County, North Carolina <br /> <br />METAL ROOF SYSTEM 07 41 00 - 3 <br />1.7 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Field Measurements: Where possible, prior to fabrication of panels, take field measurements of <br />structure or substrates to receive panel system. Allow for trimming panel units where final dimensions <br />cannot be established prior to fabrication. <br />B. Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced Installer ("Roofer") to perform preformed metal <br />roofing, siding and soffit work who has specialized in the installation of metal roofing, siding and soffit <br />systems similar to that required for this project and who is acceptable to the manufacturer of the primary <br />roofing materials for installation of their systems. <br />C. Installer Certification: Obtain written certification from manufacturer of preformed metal roofing system <br />certifying that Installer is approved by manufacturer for installation of manufacturer's watertightness <br />warrantied system and that Installer has held that certification for a minimum of one year prior to <br />installation of roof. <br />D. Installer's Field Supervision: Require Installer to maintain a full-time supervisor/foreman who is on <br />jobsite during times that preformed metal roofing and siding work is in progress and who is experienced <br />in installation of roofing systems similar to type and scope required for this Project, and who is certified <br />as indicated above. <br />E. Insurance Certification: Assist Owner in preparation and submittal of roof installation acceptance <br />certification as may be necessary in connection with fire and extended coverage insurance on roofing and <br />associated work. <br />F. UL Listing: Provide preformed metal roofing system and component materials which have been tested <br />for application and slopes indicated and are listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) for Class A <br />external fire exposure. <br />1. Assist in obtaining required approvals for substitution of preformed metal roofing system and <br />materials in accepted U.L. designs as required. <br />G. Pre-Application Roofing Conference: Significantly prior to scheduled commencement of roofing <br />installation and associated work, meet at project site with Installer, installer of each component of <br />associated work, installers of deck or substrate construction to receive roofing work, installers of roof-top <br />units and other work in and around roofing which must precede or follow roofing work (including <br />mechanical work if any), Architect, Owner, roofing system manufacturer's representative, and other <br />representatives directly concerned with performance of the work, including (where applicable) Owner's <br />insurers, test agencies, and governing authorities. <br />1. Review foreseeable methods and procedures related to roofing work, including but not necessarily <br />limited to the following: <br />2. Tour representative areas of roofing substrates (decks), inspect and discuss condition of substrate, <br />roof drains, curbs, penetrations and other preparatory work performed by other trades. <br />3. Review structural loading limitations of steel deck and inspect deck for loss of flatness and for <br />required mechanical fastening. <br />4. Review roofing system requirements (drawings, specifications and other contract documents). <br />5. Review required submittals, both completed and yet to be completed. <br />6. Review and finalize construction schedule related to roofing work and verify availability of <br />materials, Installer's personnel, equipment and facilities needed to make progress and avoid <br />delays. <br />7. Review required inspection, testing, certifying and material usage accounting procedures. <br />8. Review weather and forecasted weather conditions, and procedures for coping with unfavorable <br />conditions, including possibility of temporary roofing (if not a mandatory requirement). <br />9. Record (Contractor) discussions of conference, including decisions and agreements (or <br />disagreements) reached, and furnish copy of record to each party attending. If substantial <br />disagreements exist at conclusion of conference, determine how disagreements will be resolved <br />and set date for reconvening conference. <br />1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING <br />A. Deliver panels and other components so they will not be damaged or deformed.
