SHSC HVAC and Roof Replacement Smith Sinnett / 2020072 <br />Orange County, North Carolina <br /> <br />METAL ROOF SYSTEM 07 41 00 - 1 <br />SECTION 07 41 00 - METAL ROOF SYSTEM <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br />A. Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and <br />Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. <br />1.2 SUMMARY <br />A. This Section includes manufactured roof, wall and soffit panels of the following types: <br />1. Machine seamed standing seam roof panels. <br />2. All flashings, roof top equipment flashing, curbs, ridge caps, and miscellaneous trim. <br />3. All clips fasteners and anchors required to resist all uplift and loading combinations and allow <br />thermal movement. <br />4. All roof insulation, including adhesively backed membrane and other underlayments. <br />5. Snow Guards and all other accessories and components necessary for a complete, first class job. <br />1.3 DEFINITIONS <br />A. Preformed roofing/siding is hereby defined to include panels which are structurally capable of spanning <br />between supports spaced as indicated. <br />B. Plywood: A structural board consisting of an odd number of thin layers of wood glued together under <br />pressure, with the grain of one layer at right angles to the grain of the adjoining layer in 5, 7, 9 ply layers <br />as required to achieve the required thickness. <br />1.4 RELATED SECTIONS <br />A. The following sections contain requirements that relate to this Section: <br />1. Division 05 Section “Structural Steel”. <br />2. Division 06 Section “Rough Carpentry” for blocking <br />3. Division 07 Section "Sheet Metal Flashing and Trim" for roof and/or wall flashing, gutters, <br />downspouts, and other sheet metal work. <br />4. Division 07 Section “Thermal Insulation” for roof insulation thickness and type. <br />1.5 SYSTEM PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Provide certified test results by a recognized testing laboratory or agency in accordance with specified <br />test methods for each system. <br />1. Ultimate Design wind velocity for the area of the project is 120 mph as indicated in the N.C. <br />State Building Code and/or local ordinance. The entire roof assembly including all components <br />shall be designed to resist all wind load combinations. Shop drawing submittals shall include all <br />relevant calculations. Drawings and calculations shall be sealed by a professional structural <br />engineer registered in North Carolina. Manufactured roofing systems shall also be required to <br />provide U.L. 1-120 wind up-lift resistance.
