2 <br />Percent for Art Projects <br />at Homestead Park Aquatics Center <br />and Southern Community Park <br />BACKGROUND <br />1% for art on these two projects was approved on Oct. 1, 2003 by the BOCC at <br />their regular meeting. At that meeting, the BOCC also approved collaboration <br />between the Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) and the Chapel Hill Public <br />Arts Commission (CHPAC) on these two public art projects. <br />1. Budget <br />Southern Community Park - <br />Orange Co 1997 bond $ 795,000 <br />Orange Co 2001 bond 2,000,000 <br />Total $2,795,000 <br />1 % reserved for art for the entire budget =about $28,000. (There are no Town of <br />Chapel Hill funds involved in this project.) <br />Aquatics Center - <br />Town 1996 bond $1,160,000 <br />Orange Co 1997 bond 855,000 <br />Orange Co 2001 bond 3,500,000 <br />Total $5,515,000 <br />1 % reserved for art for the entire budget =about $55,000. <br />2. Process <br />Chair Margaret Brown and Commissioner Barry Jacobs requested a process for <br />implementation at the Sept. 16, 2003 meeting of the Project Planning Committee <br />for the Southern Community Park and the Aquatics Center. <br />The Orange County Arts Commission requests approval of the following process: <br />
