Orange County Eubanks Road C&D Landfill <br />Permit Technical Specifications <br />Revised March 15, 2021 <br />Section 02200 - 1 <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION 02200 <br /> <br />EARTHWORK <br /> <br /> <br />Part 1 General <br /> <br />The work covered by this section of the specifications consists of furnishing labor, equipment, and <br />materials to perform excavation and other earth moving operations, including construction and <br />maintenance of necessary haul roads, structural fills and berms. This section does pertain to the <br />landfill base. This section does not pertain to the cap infiltration barrier layer or the cap cushion <br />layer. <br /> <br /> <br />Part 2 Products <br /> <br />2.01. Fill Material - General <br /> <br />A. It is intended that on site soils and broken or weathered rock will be used as fill <br />material to the extent possible. <br /> <br />B. If off-site soils are to be used, the CONTRACTOR shall identify the source a <br />minimum of 3 weeks in advance of intent to import. The COUNTY’s Quality <br />Control personnel shall be given access to the site to obtain necessary samples for <br />testing and proofing of the soil material. <br /> <br />2.02. Suitable Fill and Backfill <br /> <br />A. Suitable soil for landfill bases, fill , and backfill shall be free of roots, limbs, trash, <br />excessive organics and deleterious material. The maximum particle size for <br />suitable soil shall be three inches in the top 12” of fill, and six inches within the <br />next 24” of fill depth. Refer to the table below. Where the fill is deeper than 36”, <br />the maximum particle sizes shown in the table occasionally will be allowed if <br />placed at the base of the fill and compaction of soil is performed around the <br />individual pieces of rock using a suitable combination of mechanical equipment <br />and/or powered hand equipment. <br /> <br />Fill Depth Maximum Particle Size <br />Up to 12” 3” <br />12” to 36” 6” <br />36” to 60” 18” <br />60” + 36” <br /> <br /> <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 0844D1D6-E311-4FC5-8B5B-BB1E27A908ED
