Orange County Eubanks Road C&D Landfill <br />Permit Technical Specifications <br />Revised March 15, 2021 <br />Section 01560 - 2 <br /> <br /> <br />2.02. Permanent Erosion Control Matting (Flexamat ®) <br /> <br />Permanent waterways where higher flow velocities are anticipated such as stormwater <br />conveyance channels and downchutes will be lined with Flexamat ® concrete block mat <br />where indicated on the drawings. Flexamat is an alternative to rip-rap, and filter fabric or <br />gravel underlining as described in in the North Carolina Erosion and Sediment Control <br />Planning Design Manual, Spec. 6.15. Flexamat assists in the establishment of permanent <br />vegetation in waterways by reducing soil erosion of newly seeded waterways. <br /> <br />Flexamat consists of concrete blocks that are cast into a high strength polypropylene bi- <br />axial geogrid with a maximum spacing of 2". Concrete has a minimum compressive <br />strength of 4,000 psi at 28 days, and a minimum weight of 3 lb. per block. The <br />polypropylene bi-axial geogrid is designed to have an Ultimate Tensile Strength of 2000 <br />lb/lf, and contains 2% Carbon Black Content for UV Stabilization. Flexamat Plus is backed <br />with degradable Curlex® II erosion control blanket. (www.flexamat.com). <br /> <br />Flexamat will be installed after the application of permanent seed, mulch and fertilizer in <br />accornce with Spec. 6.11 of the NC E&SC Planning Design Manual. <br /> <br /> <br />2.03. Erosion Control Blanket <br /> <br />Erosion Control Blanket shall be North American Green S150 or approved equal. <br /> <br /> <br />Part 3 Execution <br /> <br />3.01. General <br /> <br />Prior to significant disturbance of the site, perimeter erosion control shall be established in <br />order to prevent uncontrolled drainage from leaving the limits of construction or from <br />reaching State waters. Sediment barriers shall be constructed as soon as possible. <br /> <br />3.02. Installation <br /> <br />A. CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the following activities: <br /> <br />B. A continuous siltation barrier shall be down slope from construction activities as <br />indicated on the plans to control sediment runoff. Barriers shall be placed around <br />stockpiled material subject to erosion. <br /> <br />C. Silt fences shall be installed as per the manufacturer's directions. The fence shall <br />be supported by wooden or metal posts driven at least two feet into the ground and <br />spaced no further than eight feet apart.
