From:Samuel Kees
To:Christopher Sandt
Cc:Gerald Robblee; Brendan Stepek; Craig Benedict
Subject:[EXTERNAL MAIL!] RE: Lake Orange Gate/Concrete Repairs
Date:Tuesday, September 1, 2020 3:56:47 PM
Attachments:image001.png
Chris,

Below is a proposed scope of work for In-Water Services Company Inc. to move or remove sediment
from around the intake tower sluice gates as necessary and perform a dive inspection of the intake
tower to provide observations, details and measurements of the existing intake tower sluice gate
and appurtenances:

· Enter the water from the shoreline near the intake structure with portable support
equipment located on the dam crest.
· The dive inspection should include two-way communication; video recording and
measurement/observation of the intake tower, sluice gates, gate operators, gate stems,
stem guides, and stem-to-gate connections; and approximate sediment depths within a 15-ft
radius of the riser structure.
· Remove or move sediment and debris from around the bottom drain sluice gate to allow for
observations and measurements of the gate, opening, and an assessment of the concrete
condition (locations of spalls and cracks). The sediment removal/relocation shall be staged
or coordinated with the dive inspection such that the visibility within the water is maintained
from prior to disturbance of the sediment.
· In-water shall coordinate with and take directions from the on-site Schnabel representative
as to the inspection approach and information to gather.
· Preparation of a Dive Inspection Report with photo and/or video documentation of the
inspection.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss further.

Thanks,
Sam
Samuel Kees, PE
Senior Engineer / Schnabel Engineering South, P.C.
Schnabel Engineering
T 336.274.9456 / C 336.972.2259
11 A Oak Branch Drive
Greensboro, NC 27407
schnabel-eng.com

Build Better.
