Asbestos Abatement Guidelines and Policies <br />Page 02080-2 <br />the Abatement Contractor in writing to the Owner and shall require the Contractor to <br />immediately stop asbestos removal activities and initiate fiber reduction activities: <br /> <br />1. =/> 0.01 f/cc outside regulated area <br /> <br />2. Breach/break in regulated area barrier(s) <br /> <br />3. Serious injury/death within regulated area <br /> <br />4. Fire/safety emergency within the regulated area <br /> <br />5. Respiratory protection system failure <br /> <br />6. Power failure <br /> <br />7. Excessive airborne fibers (>0.5 f/cc) in the regulated area when wet methods are <br />being used <br /> <br />1.02 SCHEDULE <br /> <br />A. The schedule is to be determined. <br /> <br />1.03 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> <br />A. The ACM to be removed is identified in the Summary of ACM in the first section of this <br />specification and in the attached assessment report. The quantities and locations of <br />ACM as indicated, and the extent of the work are estimates which are limited by the <br />physical constraints of the buildings. Accordingly, minor variations (+/- 10%) in <br />quantities of ACM within the regulated areas are considered as having no impact on <br />contract price and time requirements of this contract. Where additional work is <br />required beyond the above variation, the contract time and price will be adjusted under <br />provisions of the applicable clause in the contract. Additional or reduced abatement <br />work beyond the variations will be basis for adjusting the contract price. <br /> <br />B. Interior work areas will be cleared with TEM air sampling; all work areas will be cleared <br />visually. <br /> <br />1.04 ASBESTOS REMOVAL – Friable <br /> <br />A. Flooring materials – Floor Tile (ACM 9”x 9” brown, beige streak and associated mastic, <br />9”x9” tan and associated mastic, mastic underneath non-ACM 12” white with blue <br />streak floor tile) <br /> <br />1. Establish a control area as outlined within Section 10-01526 and 10-01563 of <br />this specification. <br /> <br />2.
